hatton does NOT become pound for pound champ if he beats pacquaio

Jones was no.2. He was no.1, but Hopkins (no.10) surpassed him with a win over Trinidad (no.2) Jones regained no.1 with the win over Ruiz.


The only reason this is being debated is because Hatton A) Is British B) Everyone hates him.

 

I think what most people are saying is if u beat the best p4p fighter you're not the best u just beat the best. But someone who couldn't beat the best in 2 attempts qualifies hands down.

The fact is no one can deal with hatton being #1 cos they don't like his style!

So therefore he still needs another top scalp to clinch it!

Never mind ricky! some people are never allowed to get there. Don't take it personally!

But even I have to admit, Hatton's technical skills are lacking so I just couldn't ever see a time when i wouldn't look at the worlds best fighters and be able to make a case for at least 2 others to be above him. Regardless of who he beats!

So its about more than results its about technical ability and ring generalship.

And i think Ricky skipped those classes!

But i still hope he wins!

Be interesting to see where The Ring go should Hatton win.

If he does then in his last ten fights he would hold wins over fighters that, at the time, were respectively number one, number three and number eight in The Ring's own p4p ratings.

That's a pretty stellar record. I think the only win Marquez has by comparison in his last ten over someone who was ranked in The Ring p4p top ten was Barrera who was number six.

Can they rank Hatton below Marquez when Hatton has three wins over people who they themselves ranked top ten p4p and a win over someone who Marquez has twice lost to?

Let me get this straight. Ricky thinks that if he beats the naturally smaller Pacman who at this stage of his career is nothing more than a 135 pound fighter, he will become the P4P king when he wouldn't be able to beat anyone in the top 5 ish at 147. When Ricky was embarrassed and KTFO by Floyd at 147 Ricky said "he was a bit to big for me" when Floyd clearly isn't bigger. By Ricky's logic wouldn't Hatton be "a bit to big for Pacman". Therefore he should beat Pacman.Imo if he beats Pacman he should move up to about 4/5. If he then beat Mosely/Cotto at 147 then he might have an argument depending on what Marquez/Hopkins/Floyd etc do during that time.Ricky will look stupid if he does beat Pac and continues to carry on with this nonsense of him being P4P when it is clearly wrong.

You are totally correct!! Since there is not such a thing as P4P championship nor P4P official lists. Everybody has a different list. WHY??? Because P4P concept is nothing but a "my favorite boxers list".

 

The whole fight was an embarrassment for boxing. Collazo sent Ricky Hatton running to 140lbs. He accepted to go back to 147lbs because the money was good. He knew he was in it to get a beating.

im willing to bet he wont go near mayweather...why? because he can get better weight and better money from the winner of above AND he wont lose his p4p ranking so badly from losing

for hatton to go no.1 he needs to KO Manny (very possible), KO Marquez (less likely because of style but reasonable), beat Mayweather jnr at 140 or anything higher

I used to think p4p champ had to be multiple weights but having looked back on Lennox &co its clear scattering a packed weight class and associated challengers is good enough so i back it here...

 

Winner if Hatton/Pac should fight either Marquez or Mayweather.
