There was one Asian heavyweight back in the days of USA Tuesday Night Fights. I cant remember his name but I remember that he wore Ninja shoes, and he wasnt that bad.
I can't even think of one higher than 168, much less heavyweight, who was successful as an ethnic Asian. Maybe Beibut Shumenov (who is very clearly Asian ethnically, as opposed to the Klits, Chagaev and Maskaev, who clearly were displaced from elsewhere in the Soviet Union) will be the first to go far in those weight ranges. At this point, the biggest Asians to win a world title I can think of are In Chul Baek and Chong Pal Park (168).
Mongols will come out very soon. country is getting better-boys can fight without having problems with food and equipment.Chagaev and Jirov ARE asians(with typicall eyes).Valuev is not russian.he took his height from tatar grand father,so he's tatar on the man's line. but there,s the problem:where to fight? LA providing more fight nights in month then all asia in year (ex japan).
here you go: next samurai heavyweight champ of the world http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=369706&cat=boxer the 1 and only professional japanese heavyweight
i think some of the biggest Asians to win a world title was probably at 168...cant recall any 175 or cruisers either
