He would beat him and probably handily, but Calzaghe is good enough to avoid his name and brutal beating being used in the same sentence

I always thought Roy was a bad style for JC and I still think he is but I think JC could win it. He is happy to take the lead and keep scoring with his rapid fire approach. This works. RJJ would be more dangerous offensively BUT punching leaves you open and JC is one of the few who could make RJJ pay for his sweeping left hooks and lunges. I think JC could nick it close.

Given that you're a notorious Calzaghe nuthugger, it's no real surprise that you would pick him.

1993-2003 version of Jones would comfortabley win. Probably by stoppage or a wide UD. Calzaghe wouldn't be able to find Jones, he wouldn't be able to pin him down or land anything of significance. Jones would outbox him, wear him down and frustrate the limited Calzaghe, who would certainly take a beating against the bigger, stronger, faster man.

By the end of 1995 Calzaghe only had 14 fights and had just won the British Title in last fight. Roy Jones had 30 fights was a 2 weight world champ having already beaten Hopkins and Toney. Not really any point in the question if they were to fight in primes it would have to be 1998/99 at the earliest.

One of the best offensive fighters of all time, who had thee best relfex's ever and is also a bad style match up for Calzaghe and Joe could nick it. :silly

Jones wide UD or late mercy stoppage

Calzaghe was nowhere near the boxer he was in the last few years of his career in 1995. He still thought he could blast his way through people. It wpuld be easy for Jones to counter such a style. It would be brutal.

If an 2008 Janes can floor Calzaghe, I dont think a 1995 Jones would have any problem with any version of Calzaghe.

In fact, I'd back a 1995 Jones to beat 2 Calzaghes in the ring at the same time! :D

Jones by a comfortable UD. Not a dig at Calzaghe either though because very few boxers have even a slim chance against RJJ in his prime.

Jones pretty easily. The slavering dogs of the Calzaghe blind battalion will never accept or understand that, but Joe would be completely outclassed, outboxed and outpunched by a peak Roy Jones. For me this is like comparing Cervantes to Duran or Pryor to Leonard. One is a very good champion, the other is an elite ATG from the same era.

And ur mr objective? Your one of the most biased posters on the forum.

I think Jones would win a fairly close UD.
