There's a difference between thinking some1 one and actually winning, in reality Pac beat JMM, not the other way around

and at the end of the day Pac still has the better resume, like real talk....for years now, time and time again, fight after fight, Pacs beaten everyone opponent he's fought, from champs, to lineal champs, and HOF'ers to ATG's, while Marquez has lost a few yet he surpasses the guy who already beat him based on beating a guy who ain't been in the ring in well over a year?, nah, it don't work like that, to be the best you have to beat the best,...this is 2009, the best fighter is Manny not Mayweather, beating Floyd would be unbeleivable but he won't be the man untill he beats the man (officially)

now I don't wanna get too caught up in a fabricated situation so I'll leave it at that, and don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both fighters, and neither one more then the other, and I even thought Manuel was robbed in the 1st fight but, I could never say he's better then Manny when Manny has a not only a win over Marquez but the more extensive resume, I guess I'm just crazy like that

Absolutely, and this is coming from someone who doesn't think he has any current claim for #1. A natural 130 pounder beating the true P4P #1 in the world at a much higher weight would be a hell of an accomplishment.

However, if Pacquiao beats Hatton and Mayweather beats Marquez, Mayweather still only ends up at #2. His recent record isn't nearly as glossy as when he 'retired'.

I disagree. I think fighters should get a little credit if their opponents turn out to be better than people thought they were at the time they fought them (i.e. Cotto-Mosley, Casamayor-Campbell, Adamek-Dawson) and should get a debit if their opponents turn out to be worse than people thought they were at the time (i.e. Calzaghe-Lacy, Floyd-Hoya).

Yes. By "true #1 P4P" I meant Mayweather, who retired with that title. I guess by now there's a pretty solid argument that he would have fallen behind Pacquiao (I'd probably have him at #2), but a guy who looks a little chubby at 135 beating a pound for pound top 3 (at worst) guy at his natural weight of 142 or 143 is a big accomplishment in P4P terms.

I agree withn you that its a huge accomplishment. But i don't know if its enough to surpass Pac given all that he's accomplished and how good he is. Especially after he beats Hatton for his 4th lineal title. Both wins would definately elevate both of them and put the ranking in question. One would have to see how the fights actually go down.

The gamebreaker for me is that Pac has grown into being a natural JWW. From this point forward, Marquez will just be a fat JLW, unless he does some serious work. I don't think his frame can support much more muscle, especially considering he had a bit of a midsection against Diaz.

no, JMM will still be next to pac even with a win over PBF. He has to beat pac to be #1. A win by JMM over PBF only means that PAC defeated the person twice who won over PBF.

    Nah . . . you're dreaming.

The two are in the same weight range . . . so I don't see JMM getting the #1 slot unless . . . Pacquiao loses to Hatton or the third fight happens and JMM beats him.

so you do not dispute that you do not know how a fighter becomes p4p #1 or that you are new to boxing and just talking about something you know nothing about. instead, you claim i am not being honest about my opinion because i am PRETENDING to be an old boxing fan. explain to me how your little brain went about figuring out all this from my post. feel free to include any evidence, clues, hunches, suspicions, anything that may prove you are not a total dumb ass besides a smiley face. thank you in advance
