What kind of personality do you prefer in a boxer?

hmm says... spot on. Fame and fortune changes a person in a way that they forget that they are looked up to as an inspiration or hope. Now-a-days, lots of things are fixed on the negative side of boxing that we need folks that can turn it around and follow in their footsteps.

 

I like the quieter, gentlemanly types like Wlad, Kessler, Pacman. Guys who are not afraid to show respect for their opponents both before and after the fight.

I like boxers who have respect. Respect for the fans by not running, respect for the sport by training hard and fighting within the rules and the spirit of the sport. Men who can accept a controversial decision loss and say "If I had fought better, there would have been no controversy."

Jones Jr badass? Yea, in the ring, but Not his personality bro. He's definitly in the Tarver category as well

 

I think you need a mixture of personalities. You can't just have one kind of fighter or else we'd all be bored.

I would say that Jones was boring. He was a farm kid and it showed in his interest. The guy is quite and really humble outside of the boxing. I meet Jones once at a basketball game in the USBL when my cousins teams played against a team that Jones was playing on some years back. My son said Hey dad that guy looks just like roy Jones. He was pretty small, I remember thinking this guy is the Lt heavyweight champion of the world:huh

PS he only played about 5 min in that game.

I'd put Cotto in the 'sulky mean' type.

The personality type I like the most is the "just glad to be in the ring" guy that you can tell believes that boxing saved his life who (hopefully) shows class but won't accept being outpointed (never stops trying to win).

 

Im sorry thats not Evander Holyfield, this guy will die in that ring if he doesnt stop and hes got like 20 kids from 20 different women

 

Brash, cocky, witty trash talkers that are able to back it up in the ring.

They make the sport interesting from an out of the ring entertainment perspective.

 

Manny Pacquiao. I like Roy type too.

Least favorite. Ali type. Trash talking to the point of being overly offensive. Then say "just kidding I was selling tickets" to get away with anything.
