who wins today between mexico's legend and puerto rico's hottest star? say at the weight that would be the most fair to both...
No matter what weight that fight would be at, The power Lopez posses in his hands...and Amir Khan's glass jaw...put to and to together....atsch
he said "TODAY"...so this is not a prime-prime match up with that said, Juanma would absolutely murder Barrera, in fact, Barrera might even die
No, he said today, not prime-prime. Today, Juanma kicks Barrera's ass at any weight. Barrera can't pull the trigger anymore.
I'm not even going to address the actual question of the thread. We all know what would happen. Did nobody see how awful Marco looked in there against Amir Khan? Going up against arguably the best young fighter in the world today who has power in both hands? It'd be a massacre. Prime for prime would be a different story entirely. After the performance against Penalosa, we can assume that Juan does not that have the Boxing ability of even a young Marco, who would walk down his prey in similar fashion, only then to create more angles, and show off a complete offensive arsenal, both hands, body and head. Lopez would have the significant advantage in punch power, but even the fight against Penalosa perhaps suggests that he isn't quite a George Foreman of the 122lb division. Marco stood toe to toe with Erik Morales, who is universally regarded as the second greatest 122lb ever, and many ringside observors had Marco winning. This was a credit to the combination punching of a Super Bantamweight Barrera, who had blinding handspeed, and "commited to every punch", as Kennedy Mckinney rightly pointed out after their epic 1996 battle. In the event Lopez catches Marco cleanly, this could end up like another Junior Jones fight. However, we don't know how Lopez would react to a hard shot from a legitimate 122lb fighter, and with Marco's handspeed and combination punching, he'd have to take more than one at a time. I'd pay to see it. No prediction, too early in Lopez's career.
This fight makes no sense MAB is fighting at 135 and Lopez fights at 122. There is no way in hell MAB could make 122 so Lopez would have to come up to 135 if that's the case I would have to lean towards MAB 135 is probably too much for Lopez right now.
Lopez would destroy Marco at this point and he would probably resortt to cheating like he always did in the past.
JuanMa is a big 122. I think he can win titles up to 135 in the future. I think right now he can compete with anybody at 122 & 126, and possibly 130 aswell. The top dogs at 135 might be too big at the moment. But Barrera isn't one of the top dogs, I'd take JuanMa by decision.
