There aren't black, white, and indian puerto ricans just puerto ricans with different complexions because of the mix of the race. An yes it is a race. You are mistaken because Puerto Rico is a common wealth of the united states not a nation. And unless your comments were made in a derogatory manner u aren't a racist.

 

I've seen plenty of Puerto Ricans who look straight up white or black. And how come Quintana calls himself "El Indio"? How come if you look up a demographic report of Puerto Rico, they break down the population by race? By the way, over 80% of Puerto Ricans consider themselves white(only 11% identify themselves as mixed). I wonder why they don't just write down "Puerto Rican" when asked what race they are? For that matter, why even ask their race if they're all of the "Puerto Rican" race? Oh, you're right, technically Puerto Rico isn't a nation.

 

This is true...I believe there are only 4 race categories and Puerto Rican is not one of them. Hispanic is not considered a race either, it is defined as an ethnicity.

 

Cotto should win this fight.

I wonder who will be favored in this fight and how the line will adapt? Early bettors for Cotto and late for Clottey, I would think. And the line to be pretty close.

Dont worry about it... Scientifically , there are only 3 breeds in the human race(Negorid , caucasoid , and mongoloid) Every one else is a mixture of those three.

 

This is also my understanding....though when conducting surveys and items of the sort the categories tend to differ. I'm 75% Rican and 25% cuban in terms of my cultural make up but at first look many consider me african american...puerto ricans are surely unique when it comes to our ethnic back round ohh and the comment regarding ricans considering themseleves white??? I don't know one rican in all my years consider themseleves white so that comment is basically 99.9% false.

not saying it ain't true, just saying i've never heard one say that, in fact there was this light skinned puerto rican girl i used to know who would get pissed cuzz people would always call her white the 1st time they met her, and she'd say "i'm not white i'm Puerto Rican!"....but then i again for years i thought Mexicans were the same as Puerto Ricans, so i dont really know much about geography and ****
