I'm pretty split on this one, whilst he was fantastic at hyping a fight and his entrances were amazing, I hated him because he seems to be every bit as much of a ***** outside the ring.
I live around the same area as him and he is a ***** outside the ring. So are his brothers who would hang around with him. That was back in the 90s though. Only thing I have heard about him lately is from some guy who installed his satellite system at his house.. Said he was a miserable obnoxious ****.
I like him and i miss the guy, sure he was cocky and arrogant but and sometimes he would go over the top with some stuff but he also brought a lot of excitment to boxing with his ring entrances and his flashy boxing style that was diferent to anything we had at the time and man could he punch. probably will never be another one like him.
Loved him at the start of his career. Started hating his cocky ass towards the end. Now I only miss him. The most exciting fighter of his era. I loved his unique and flashy style. His fights were electric. Had some crazy ring entrances. Always LMFAO thinking about how he kept a stupified Kevin Kelley waiting in the ring while he danced for like 10 minutes behind a curtain
Naz was a very good fighter. P4P he had one of the hardest one-shot punches of all time. He beat every belt holders at featherweight, won three world titles and established himself as the linear champ. He has a good resume, and brough a lot of new fans and money into the sport.
Yeah, as much as people may dislike him, nobody can legitimately claim that he wasn't a very good fighter.
I used to love Naseem, I still like him & he`s still 1 of my top 10 all time fav fighters but he badly let himself down by only having 1 fight vs European level Manuel Calvo after the MAB defeat then retiring at just 28. Loads of fighters - especially in lower weights - retire in their late 20s but they are usually worn out from all the wars or else injury, Naz had none of those problems & retired rather than face his conqueror, Barrera. He might never have learned enough to beat MAB (no shame there) but at least try... especially after a whole career of saying you are determined to be the GOAT. Thats my view.
