Irving's eyes were fine. He was just tired but he was getting up as the ref stopped the fight. The ref overreacted because of the way the fight played out. He didn't want either guy to get seriously hurt so he stopped it first real chance he got.
It was a good fight of the year candidate in my mind between undefeated? Carlos Abregu and a pretty game and upset minded Irving Garcia. Abregu won by ko in the 4 round with just a second left in it. the fight was stopped by the referee. no to take away from the fight but in my mind Garcia was gonna get up he was when the ref came and pushed him backed down, i believe he shouldve given him a chance cause he had knockdown twice abregu in the fight once in that same round had him hurt and got caught but still abregu got the chance why not him. i believe it was unfair but im not the ref. what are your thoughts if you saw the fight if u didnt you missed a good one see it again in the week.:bbb
i agree also garcia earned another chance he didnt get it. i believe he shouldve gotten it since it was the end of the round either way, also he had knocked down abregu badly a min before that. rematch anyone??? garcia wouldve won given the chance to continue
It'd be great and it should happen but I doubt the Argentinian will risk another war like this. Hope I'm wrong.
Abregu, dude that got by controversially with Estrada. A hard hitting Argentinian WW. Garcia is a good, solid boxer-puncher. Back and forth, pick yourself up off the canvas, type of short from 12 rumble. Great fight. Hopefully youtube would pick it up soon.
Yeah! After Garcia first dropped Abregu he turned into a brawler. He stopped his boxing technique and went on the aggression. He should kept his lateral movement and pop that jab followed by a sneaky right hand. The left hook stepped in a little, but that sneaky str8 right found its home. Sometimes too much confidence in our power can make us forget basic fundamentals. I'd say box smart, but take advantage of every opportunity with the KO. Especially if I had the edge in outside skill and range. If I was the more stout fighter then I'd do whatever it takes to get inside and unleash my fury, broken jaws and snapped ribs. Unbelievable fight!! these guys were swinging with intentions to kill in there. Only thing I can criticize is the stoppage. The ref let Abregu get up after 2 brutal knockdowns in that fight and he should've let Garcia have that same opportunity. It's a damn shame when an official overreacts like that and robs a fighter of an opportunity to come back. :verysad Still a fantastic fight though.
