Yep, he could have retired for 4 years and come back and got a shot at the P4P title.

    Really?

You mean in relation to not wanting Pac to fight Floyd, or asking too much?

I think the only hitch will be the split. There's no way Floyd will accept a lower cut than Pac.

Funny, as many title belts as there are in boxing, now there's just as many p4p#1s.

Never thought I'd see that day come.

Bob arum got the man in your avy a title shot. Cotto was never seen as a champ at ww, and until he beats Floyd, (and we all know he turned down a fight with Floyd at ww) he will never be seen as a world champion.

Totally agree !!! Very simple here it is...

Many of you think Pacquiao is the p4p right now because Mayweather "retired" but now that he is back if he beat JMM he will become again the p4p and even if pacquiao wins I will put pacquiao on 2nd and the other little possibility, if Marquez wins and pacquiao wins I am pretty sure de mayority will put Marquez at #1 spot in the p4p list why? because it would be such a big win that it doesnt matter what happens in the hatton fight JMM would be #1, if ricky wins it doesnt matter the winner of the mayweather/jmm fight would be #1 so basically the argument it is correct, its just the way it is the winner of the mayweather/JMM fight will be favorite against the winner of pacquiao/hatton...

I like your train of thought, but I think it's more like... FMJ is p4p champ emeritus and gets an automatic shot at the current ordinary p4p (tonight's winner), which he is foregoing for a p4p tune up.

When the winners collide, we get super p4p.

Sometimes I wish it wasn't so easy to make fun of how my fave sport is run. Dozens of real titles that no one gives a **** about and a single mythical title with arbitrary rules of lineage that no one can shut up about.

Oh, and of course the one title anyone is supposed to care about is now owned by one of the promoters.

If Pacquiao beats Hatton, he would continue being the P4P King.

If Hatton beats Pacquiao, he will probably be #2 or #3.

If Mayweather beats Marquez and Pacquiao beats Hatton, Mayweather would be #2.

If Mayweather beats Marquez and Hatton beats Pacquiao, Mayweather would be P4P King.

If Marquez beats Mayweather and Pacquiao beats Hatton, Pacquiao would be #1 and Marquez #2, imo.

If Marquez beats Mayweather and Hatton beats Pacquiao, Marquez would be #1.

The confrontation between the #1 and #2 would be, therefore, one of these:

    a) Mayweather vs. Pacquiao (ATG vs. ATG, former P4P champ vs. current P4P champ)
    b) Mayweather vs. Hatton II (the rematch, in England)
    c) Marquez vs. Pacquiao III (The rubbermatch)
    d) Marquez vs. Hatton (140 champ vs. 135 champ)

If hatton wins, then marquez-mayweather truly is for #1 p4p.

I still cant see how Hatton "wins p4p title" Surely by Pac losing...if he does...Marquez becomes p4p #1....no?

Best Hatton can do is top 3-4
