what if the fight was at 141 (6lbs up for JMM and 6lbs down for floyd), whould you still consider it a mismatch?
It's not very popular opinion on this forum but the best wins of Hopkins are against smaller guys. Now everyone is speaking how great he is. And he is a great boxer. But even his win again Pavlik was against guy who was a lot smaller.
And in his announcement today what if he says that this is a tune up fight and afterward he is looking to fight cotto or mosley, what is your opinion of him then? just curious.
JMM has no business fighting above 135 ever, and even that's a stretch. I hope he proves me wrong, but I seriously doubt it . Mayweather tko 7.
Truth is that the most logical choice besides Shane is Cotto. But Cotto has already a match. Shane after his win against Margo is the most logical choice that was really going to add to Floyd's legacy. If he wins of course.
i couldn't agree with the original post more. But I will give floyd some lea way on this one if only because it is his first fight back and he has the right to a tune up fight, since thats all this is. there is some genuine talent in the 147lb weight class and if floyd wants to call himself the champ of 147 than hes going to have to start fighting some real 147 pounders and not just defend agenst guys who have no bussiness being at that weight.
He's been off for a year plus, who did you expect him to fight? To be honest with you, I expected a tune up against a top 15 guy, not a fight with a guy who to many is P4P Number One. Marquez called Floyd out, too. Just like Hatton. Both will get what they asked for.
Its no so much a mismatch, just that I dont see the relevance in it. Floyd doesnt really gain anything from beating Marquez, Marquez is in lightweight division, not welterweight. I expect a Floyd decision, probably be a close fight also, but a UD for Floyd, 7-5 something like that. The thing is, PBF wins, whats the cachet? PBF having last fought at WW, comes back and beats the LW champ. Goes back to 147. What was the point exactly? Other than it being a big money maker, the fight doesnt matter in either division. Win or lose, JMM will go back to 135, PBF to 147.
Floyd will beat JMM. I don't know if I will give props to JMM or not. I think he is s.t.u.p.i.d for taking this fight way north his weight for his first fight. Of course, Floyd is just after Pac. This is where the money is. I would like to see Pac avoid Floyd. That will send the message JMM is real s.t.u.p.i.d and leave one of Floyds balls hanging by the fence and forcing to fight the real welters.
After Pacman beats Hatton that fight should be made, regardless of natural size. Then I think Floyd if he wants to stay in the business should fight Cotto.
Thanks, I was just curious. At this point in both of their careers, is there really that much of a size difference. I think this is a great fight between two of the best fighters in the world. Why is everyone bitching?
