When this fight happens, Floyd will start up where JMM left off. I think Manny is excellent, but styles make fights and Manny's arsenal won't be effective against a defensive, counter-punching guru like Floyd. I can imagine that some folks out there think that Manny will have success because he's a southpaw and he's fast...like Judah was. But, Judah was just as fast as Manny, if not faster, and he was able to give PBF early trouble with his fast jab. Manny doesn't have the reach to do that to PBF for starters. Also, Manny is WAY too offensive minded and that will cost him against PBF because Floyd will counter him to death for as long as it lasts. JMM proved what could be done against Manny in terms of counter punching but PBF will be more diligent and won't have to take the kinds of risks that JMM did to accomplish what he needs to accomplish. I really don't think Manny can hurt Floyd because I can honestly say I've never seen Floyd hurt in a fight. Think about this for a moment: If Manny doesn't score those KD's against JMM in both fights he loses both fights. Manny won't be able to KD Floyd at all and he sure as hell ain't gonna win a boxing match against Floyd. I appreciate all that Manny has done and I like him as a fighter, but I call 'em as I see 'em. Manny is an excellent fighter, but much like Manny's style was all wrong for Hatton, PBF's style will be all wrong for Manny. And, with this potential fight, Floyd's defense, counter-punching abilities, ring smarts, reach, quickness, etc. will all be too much for Manny. This fight won't even be as close as PBF-Castillo-I because Manny doesn't fight the way Castillo did. Manny will try and win this fight in the middle of the ring with his offense because that's the only way he knows how to fight. He's going to wish he knew of another way to win a fight when he finds out that strategy won't be successful against PBF.
Excellent post. I couldn't have said it any better myself. Manny only knows one way to fight and that;'s to go to war. All that coming in will get him picked apart by a master boxer like PBF.
I try to be as objective as possible, Pimp C. I like both Manny and Floyd but I just think Floyd is too cunning to say the least. Floyd is the Grand Master in the ring and nobody has been able to outthink him and Manny won't be the first. I just don't see anything Manny does giving Floyd problems. Is it possible Floyd fights lax like he did against Hatton? Well, no, because Manny throws punches whereas Hatton was looking to clinch against Floyd. Floyd will fight a controlled fight at a distance and methodically break Manny down. I can honestly say that it wouldn't surprise me to see Floyd TKO Manny with those sneaky bodyshots he likes to throw.
Two things. One: We haven't seen Floyd in the ring in a long time. We need to see if he still hasn't lost a step or two. Two: Floyd must not look past JMM after tonight's results. If he does that, he might never see Pac in the ring as a fighter.
Floyd is arrogant as hell but all of that arrogance has to do with keeping that "0" on his record in place. He will train balls-to-the-walls as he always does and Marquez will more than likely succumb to Mayweather's precise punching.
i see PBF underestimating Pac. He will be surprised that Pac is actually faster when you're fighting him than when you're watching him. (Attested by some of his previous opponents). Pac can hurt Floyd and vice-versa, Pac beats Floyd 1 out of 4 fights. Just pray its not the first fight.
After watching Pacs last three fights I think he will get on PBF. Judah was wining the early rounds. Judah gasses out and gives up after 4 rounds Pac will not.
