Is it necessary to re-evaluate Pacman versus Oscar?

BEFORE the fight Oscar was a huge favourite and Pac considered a lamb to the slaughter.

Worries were raised following the weigh in but consensus remained that Oscar was too strong and would hit too hard for the little Pino chap with crap tash.

POST fight, Pac's sensational win was written off (me included) as being ENTIRELY down to Oscar, Oscar's weight issues, Oscar lack of motivation blah blah blah.

Oscar was not that far removed from a spirited (though DEFINITELY) losing perormance against Floyd.

Is it now to re-evaluate this win in light of last night's fight, and accept that this was as much a 'win' for Pac as it was a 'loss' for Oscar?

Pac has shown is ability to translate his brilliance north of LW, maybe the Oscar he beat was not that far removed from the Oscar Floyd beat? Maybe Pac is simply a better fighter at higher weights than anyone dared credit.

Possibly an underrated win, conveniently brushed asides by the Golden Boy propaganda machine?

It is what it is. Pac putting on a great performance against a has-been.

Roach and Manny knew DLH was shot then. We all know it now!

 

I'm not sure that he doesn't deserve more credit than he got.

Well, he faced a live big guy and blew him away.

I'm suggesting that maybe the fight was more about Pac than he was given credit for.

 

I don't think so. My position is the same. Pacquaio put in a great performance against ODLH, and deserves a lot of credit for his weight jumping antics, but ODLH was a shadow of his former self.

 

In my opinion DLH just looked empty coz Pac has more to give that night...Just my opinon though...

 

Indeed Oscar was. I don't dispute that.
I know that I personally didn't give Pac much credit for his win yet before the fight thought one De La Hoya left hook would end it. I'm looking at it in a slightly different light following last night.

 

of course. the win last night proved that the oscar win was no fluke, weight-drained or not. even oscar lasted longer than hatton. i know style makes fight, but even david diaz is a come-forward fighter and lasted longer than hatton.

people are always blaming pac's opponent for not performing well and put some lame excuses afterwards. but they don't want to see that pac should be the one to blame for making those fights look easy.

Pac was amazing last night the only thing I need to re-valuate is that size doesn't matter as much as I previously thought. How many times in recent years have we seen smaller fighters jump up in weight and dominate bigger opponents?

And to think about the amount of times Hatton slated De La Hoya in the pre-fight build up, writing him off as a 'punch bag" etc etc.

Hatton is seriously delusional about both his boxing ability and ability to take punches.

No need to re-evaluate the fight they had. Oscar was borderline useless.

What does get re-evaluated is the prime vs. prime fantasy question. Manny's staking a claim to being a very dangerous 140+ fighter. No point in speculating on that now, the book on that is far from finished. More fine evidence to come!

 

hatton needs to re-evaluated his boxing abilities point is he cannot box fighting bums all ur life exposes u i think he should fight amir khan next if he decide to fight again

 

Oscar was shot, drained, left shoulder injured.

PacMan totally dominated, beat up, busted up and made Oscar quit.

I think both statements are true, the difference is where you're looking from.

 

I still think DLH was shot but that takes nothing away from Pac.
The fact is Pac didn't beat a prime DLH.
