No mate, I live in quite an isolated place. Logistically, it would just be impossible to coach a pro fighter from here, and other commitments make it impossible for me to move, and this is something that I wouldnd't want to do anyway.

I'm happy doing what i'm doing. There is nothing that I would love more for one of my fighters to do well for him/herself in the pro's, but I can only take them so far. All of my fighters know my position, and accept it. I see it as my job to give them a solid foundation, and then they can go on to bigger and better things without me, and they would have my blessing.

My fighters are doing pretty well at the minute, but I can't take all of the credit, there are other coaches who put an awful lot into our fighters and then there's the fighters themselves who put in a great deal of hard graft, i'm just part of the team.

Just to raise this subject again, primarily for the benefit of Paloalto. If you get the chance, watch the Pac - Hatton fight, and take a close look at the first knock down; right hook from Manny. Look at how Ricky sets himself up to recieve that shot, Ricky dips to his left (as he always has), to get more leverage onto his hook. By doing this, he has 'told' Manny that the left hook is coming, and Manny being a sharp puncher, he has spotted this, and countered Ricky before he even got his punch off. This is what I meant earlier in this thread about being wary of moving to your left to unload a left hook - it leaves you open for counters, be it a right hook (from a southpaw like Manny), or a short right hand over the top from an orthodox fighter. If you do have this habit, as you mentioned, try to eradicate it. Practice throwing your hooks in a tighter manner, focusing on transferring your weight from your left foot to your right.

Are you on comission for selling this book? The last 3 threads that I have read, I have seen you championing this book. I am a huge fan of old time workouts, and I regulary train with stones, sandbags, single armed barbell movements, wheelbarrows, isometrics etc, and my fighters are also, regularly subjected to this type of 'abuse'; however, training has come a long way in recent years. Yes, there are more myths out there than facts when it comes to modern day techniques, but to ignore modern training principals in favour of old time routines is not a good idea.

Although I am a huge fan of pullups, I disagree with the notion that they are 'the best' way to put power into your hooks. No single exercise will develop a perfect left hook. A 'complete' training programme which includes lots of posterior chain (as well as closed kinetic chain, via isometrics) exercises will look after the physical aspects; however, nothing beats technique training, nothing.

    1. think about your feet, think about throwing power going through your body.

    2. practice throwing a 4 punches with a hollow hand and on the 5th snap the punch, you should be able to do some damage from 2 inches, there is no point wining up a punch, it the speed and the snap that does the damage. (and of course the feet.)

Left hook takes a lot of practice, and by practice I mean a ton of practice. Spar more, hit the bags more, do some mitts. Just throw lots of left hooks
