tszyu-hatton fight showed tszyu couldn't get the leverage he needed. you see, tzsyu's power punch is a long long straight right, which obviously explode at long range rather than in the inside (like what pac landed on hatton (cross)). but hey, before this fight. no arguments, tszyu all the way. but after the fight. hmmm you have an argument.:good
C'mon guys, let's be fair here. I think people are looking at Tszyu's very last fight too much. ----------------------- Hatton vs Tszyu Post-Fight Quotes: Hatton: 'Because I was on him so quickly in every round, he was never able to land his right hand where his bite is. I kept the distance between us close and rode his shots, took the sting out of them.' Hatton: 'He never really caught me flush.' Hatton: 'At the start of every round he fired the right because he knew it was the only time he had that bit of distance that he revels in. But he never caught me with it.' ------------ People are only comparing an old zoo who Hatton said himself never hit him with a flush right. Better to compare over the careers ... and when you do it's no comparison. Phillips, Bergman, Rodriguez, Hurtado, Mitchell and various others said they'd never been hit as hard as Tszyu. Judah thought he was playing with matches. You'll be pressed to find someone 140 and under with so many opponents saying they've never been hit so hard as opponents of Tszyu. Gonzales said Tszyu hit harder than De La Hoya and he fought them back to back in their primes. Gatti's management released a press statement saying that Gatti would not fight Tszyu 'in this lifetime'...but they were happy to put him in with Mayweather. Tszyu had a career full of ko's, brutal punching and scary power. I don't think it's that close. That said, Pac's performance against Hatton was nothing short of superb and his power looked awesome at 140. Not Tszyu level, but impressive.
he said this in an interview. i noticed this also in the fight. he got up close, sure the punch landed but it sure also has no pop on it. no leverage
if your comparing the tszyu that fought hatton with the pac that fought hatton. then pac has more power, the tszyu that fought hatton was shot.
On the decline. Not shot. And power's the last thing to go anyway. Tszyu still had that, as evidence by the destruction of Sharmba Mitchell in his comeback.
After Saturday I might just have to say prime for prime they hit about the same. That KO was massive!
I would still say Tszyu hits harder than Pac. But maybe much harder was overkill. Pac seems to be a heavy hitter even at 140. We'll see with Cotto
Pac has reasonable power but not as hard a Tszyu. The thing with Pac is you get hit without seeing the punch with reasonable power. Just ask Holloway who sparred with both Pac and Margarito. He has this to say: "I agree, Manny's power hurt more. Manny's not the most technically sound fighter but he's more so than Margarito. When you have a snapping punch coming at you, a punch that you don't see with some speed on it, that's an explosive kind of power that hurts you. That's the kind of power that startles you and can put you down."
