In all fairness, Pac had two very close and very hard-fought matches with Marquez. But Floyd should have dropped a decision to Jose Luis Castillo, and Castillo is not on the same level as Marquez. So both men had their worthy adversaries.
So far Pac is leading by a landslide in the poll, the Floyd huggers are probably busy watching the Floyd-Baldo classic.
yea what hopkins has done and is still doing at winning at this age is mainly only ever been done by heavyweights who can knock out fighters in 1 punch, but hopkins outclasses fighters, even joe calzaghe couldnt outclass him, who is awkward for all fighters, his career is been outstanding and like i said never been knocked out or outclassed at all, a living legend thats why he got my vote
Manny "Destroyer" Pacquiao 4 lineal titles 6 world champion belts 4 HOFers-DLH, MAB, Morales, JMM 3 ATGS-JMM, MAB, Morales Top of their class fighter; Larios, Diaz, Solis, Hatton, MAB+JMM+Morales, Velazquez, 3K Battery, Lucero, Sanchez, Hussein.
All on the list are valid candidates but I voted Mayweather, I think Pac is 2nd. A 5 weight champion, best defence in boxing, can do everything well, fast as ****, very good power.... as a pure boxer, he is the best in the world, he`s never lost a fight either which is not the be all & end all but still scores legit points in a thread like this. I`ll probably be attacked by some as Floyd isnt that popular but thats life.
Regardless of whether you think Floyd lost the first fight, he adapted immediately in the rematch and coasted to a decision. Pac never adapted to JMM, he never solved Marquez counter punching.
He was outclassed by Roy Jones in 1993, but that was years outwith the timeframe under discussion so it's irrelevant on this thread. Plus Jones was ****ing Superman 93-03, one of the best fighters ever, so it's not as if he was convincingly beaten by a non ATG.
Before the weekend i would have said floyd, pac has now overtaken him IMO. If Mayweather can beat marquez and pac before the end of the year i will say mayweather again
What criteria are we using. IN terms of the biggest impact on the sport and most big fights it would still be DLH. IN terms of best acheivments and the best fighter I'd say Hopkins, PAcman or Floyd.
Really? The Marquez I saw against Diaz, only one year removed from his fight with Pac, beats a prime Castillo?
There is a difference between asking who is The Fighter Of The Decade and who has been the best boxer that has fought in this decade. Listing what you think Floyd's strengths as a boxer are is irrelevant in deciding who has been the premier Fighter Of The Decade. Floyd may have a slicker skillset, but Pacquiao has consistently fought and beat a higher standard of opposition, and his weight-jumping feats put Mayweather firmly in the shade. Mayweather is not a valid answer here IMO. Skillset is not a legitimate reason to say someone has earned The Fighter Of The Decade award.
