jermain's losses were way more damaging to his confidence

jermain taylor was at the top of the boxing world... he had it all and beat & tied with greats.... then it just went down the pisser.... and he actually has the chance to be undefeated

hatton was never on top and he basically bit off more than he can chew which isnt to his fault...

He was the man at jnr welter for 4 years? Jermain has shown he belongs in there with the best and could do better in the future, he has always given a fight. Hatton fluffed it against Mayweather and Pacquiao "the heart rules the head" and he charges in like an idiot with no defence plus his punch resistance has gone to that of a wet newspaper. I can't see Hatton being motivated to train hard to pull it off on the big scene again seeing as he knows what is likely to happen so whats the point. I think he will though for the money. There's still Khan, Oscar, Witter and more.

Hatton was never nothing. Ok can u explain why 25000 people flew over to vegas. Can any other fighter bring that following across.

Hattons to Pac was the worst as he was barely competitive and made the same mistakes he did against Mayweather but sooner so I think that is more damaging to his confidence. Jermain can take big positives from the way he started against Pavlik in the first bout and Froch, even his whole performance against Pavlik in their second was nothing to be ashamed of.
How can Hatton go through training camp again working on his head movement and defences when he throws them out the window on the biggest scene? The pressure would be huge to come back from this last blow out and it would have to be a complete miss-match or Hatton gets taken out again.

Jermain let both those fights get away from him where Ricky didn't challenge either of them really.

Taylor doesn't seem to have a warrriors heart but with plenty of skill.

    Hatton is vice-a-versa

I think level of competition says a lot here - Hatton destroyed by the 2 best fighters, Taylor destroyed by Froch (who sucks)

but, the manner of Hatton's recent destruction makes me think he will retire.

Its true that Hatton's losses were only to the very best, but I think he's been carefully managed throughout his career and could've fought more worthy opponents. I don't think that only Pacquiao and Mayweather would beat him - fighters like Witter, Khan, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, de la Hoya and Judah would probably have beaten him or given him serious trouble as well as few lightweights that could've come up. Taylor went for Hopkins before he was fully developed and looked to take on all comers.
