Great performance by Manny against Hatton, but are posters getting carried away saying top 50 ATG, some are even saying top 20  What prime boxers has Pacman beaten ? Who was the last boxer under 30 years of age Pacman beat ? If you look at Pacmans best wins they tend to be against boxers past their prime, shot even in some cases. De La Hoya 35 year old, weight drained, shot, had lost 3 of his previous 6 fights, never fought again. Barrera nearly 34 year old, has only had 1 competative fight since the Pacman bout and lost {Amir Khan} Morales the last man to beat Pacman, Morales was 28 years old at the time he beat Manny, since then Morales has not won a fight, losing 4 on the trot {including two against Manny in rematches} JM Marquez lost a controversial Split Decision to Pacman as a 34 year old, lots of observers thought that JM Marquez had won the fight, Marquez despite his age was winning going into the Pacman fight and has been winning since, which cant be said for the other named boxers above, this bout was a rematch, the boxers had fought when Marquez was 30 year old and the result was a draw. So when Pacman has fought elite boxers in their prime he struggles to win, lost to Morales and had a draw against JM Marquez. Conclusion, Pacquiao is special, but not top 50 ATG material yet. {there is always a knee jerk reaction after a top fighter has a comprehensive win} Currently the interesting thing regarding ATG lists is not just Pacman but Pretty Boy Floyd making a comeback at 32 years old after nearly 2 years out of the ring and going to take on current p4p #2 JM Marquez, followed by {allegedly/hopefully} p4p #1 Manny Pacquiao, I know Manny is loved and respected and Mayweather Jnr is by and large not liked, but if the unbeaten Mayweather can come back after retirement and beat a 'peak' Pacman, then posters want to start making threads titled 'Where does Pretty Boy Floyd rank as an ATG ?' or 'Is Pretty Boy Floyd ATG top 20 ?'.
I agree, and rather than get slaughtered and have to prove it over 10 pages of arguement I say lets wait a little more. If Pac beats even a guy like Cotto which is his next opponent, than Im a believer. JMM has similar skills to Cotto as far as overall complete fighter, only Cotto is much stronger. Hatton proved he doesnt have the self control to fight at the elite level, he made himself look horribly amatuerish saturday night and he admitted it.
Wow way to twist around facts to suit your agenda. Barerra was 29 years old when Pacquiao DOMINATED him in 11 one sided rounds, Barrera was p4p top 5 in the sport in 2003 when Pac dominated a prime legend like MAB....MAB was coming off a win over undefeated Naseem Hamed and AFTER the pac loss would beat morales in a war! If the one judge had gotten a 10-6 scorecard right, then Pacman wins by decision. Not to mention JMM is lucky as hell that fight wasnt stopped in the first round. I would also argue that JMM's prime came within the last 5 years, he was at his best when Pac fought him both times coming out 1-0-1 Chatchai Sasakul- top 15 flyweight of all time Marco Antonio Barrera- Top 10-15 featherweight of all time Juan Manuel Marquez- Great fighter p4p top 5 That is a very good list Manny Pacquiao was the first man EVER to stop Morales, and Morales was still a very live dangerous top contender in the 2nd fight when Manny knocked him out. Wrong. He is easily top 50. He has started out at 106 and recorded VERY GOOD wins from 112-140lb being champion in EVERY weight class in that range. He also has 3 wins over Prime ATG fighters, and was the first to knockout a still very dangerous great fighter morales in the 2nd fight.
Why is Sasakul a top 15 Fly of all-time?.He didn't accomplish nearly enough for that and failed to comeback at all from a loss at his peak. His only top win was a very rusty, past prime arbachakov who had ****ed up his hand in his previous fight.
Agree you can pull most fighters resumes apart, i agree that Pac is a great fighter, he just not currently top 50 ATG
Your full of ****, Name 50 fighters over Pacquaio. Pacman arguably already has achieved as much/more than Armstrong, hes certainly achieved more than the likes of Chavez. History will always rank him over Morales/MAB/Marquez How many fighters won titles and beat champions across 8 weight divisions? How many flyweights stopped an ex-MW titlist and 6weight champ? How many flyweights moved up 7divisions to KO the linear no1 champion in 2rounds? I don't think Pacquaio is the best of all time, he has technical weaknesses (as many greats do) but in terms of achievement few match him. The mans a living legend
Wow, did you ever think the three Pacquiao fights might have been extremely damaging to Morales, instead of him being completely shot goods BEFORE they fought their trilogy? Great job talking about Hoya's recent losing efforts without mentioning the fact that he was losing to ATG middleweights and Floyd Mayweather.
I don't think Morales was prime with his Raheem loss, but he wasn't that far from it, Delahoya just beat Mayorga and gave Mayweather a tough test, he was past prime but that was domination. Not everyone you face is prime, few are, it doesn't make them easy fights. Hatton, Barrera 1, Marquez were all prime and all greats. Some greats never face a prime great themselves
1] Sugar Ray Robinson 2] Henry Armstrong 3] Langford 4] Greb 5] Duran 6] B.Leonard 7] Wilde 8] Ali 9] Louis 10] Pep 11] Charles 12] Fitzsimmons 13] Gans 14] R.Leonard 15] Hagler 16] Walker 17] Moore 18] Jofre 19] Tunney 20] Jack Johnson 21] Monzon 22] Whitaker 23] B.Ross 24] Saddler 25] Canzoneri 26] Salvador Sanchez 27] Babadoes Joe Walcott 28] Ketchel 29] I.Williams 30] Burley 31] Marciano 32] Jack Dempsey 33] Roy Jones Jnr 34] Holmes 35] Dixon 36] Cesar Charvez 37] E.Griffith 38] Arguello 39] L.Lewis 40] Kid Gavilan 41] Hearns 42] Napoles 43] Packey McFarland 44] Freddie Welsh 45] Driscoll 46] C.Ortiz 47] Holyfield 48] Mayweather Jnr 49] Harada 50] Britton No Michael Spinks, Olivares or Hopkins on this list so Pacman still has some way to go. If Pacman can continue winning for the next 3 years he will crack the top 50, if he beats good quality opposition during that time he could crack top 30 even top 20 at a push, but at the moment he is outside the top 50 ATG's. Floyd Mayweather has a better chance of cracking the top 20 or 30 than Pacman.
Jimmy Wilde is not a greater fighter than Muhammad Ali, all the dam credit in the world to Jimmy, there wasn't even a weight division light enough for the man that was a freak of nature. But Ali was greater than him. Ali's resume is sparkling
It was only a year ago Antonio Margarito was on everyones lips but he was exposed by Mosely and may have cheated against Cotto, still the Pacman seams to be something special time will tell.
