i agree with TFFP Roach is a brillaint trainer he is in charge of everything and has a good stable of fighters that he is involved with and trains all of them. His tactical approach is second to none and is as good as Eddie Futch for formulating gameplans. He also shows he is a great trainer by being able to know he is doing too much and taking in Moorer to help. He listens to Moorers advice and when it is valid takes it on board. I know his disease is bad but we have still a good few years of his expertise. I always listen to what roach says. Roach when he stops training will have a bigger legacy than just his fighters he will have another great trainer following him in Moorer and that 1 eyed guy and he will have inspired alot of people.
Roach is not a Boxing Trainer he is a Boxing scientist , a Boxing Professor. Small details, make huge impacts in the ring.

As JonOli has put he has made some very humble comments about Ricky. He could have mocked him a touch but hasn't. Excellent coach who has gone up in my estimation by what he's said.
I've got enormous respect for him through first of all fighting what he does to get up in the morning and do what he does, it cant be easy. Then as a trainer he's not just someone who gets his fighter in shape, holds the pads bla bla, he actually makes a plan, dissects the opponent and puts it into action. He said Manny would do Hatton inside 3 and he said Oscar couldnt pull the trigger and Manny would webb him all over the place! How mocked he was by some but how right he turned out to be! I know he's not got kids but has he even got a bird? He just seems to live and breathe boxing, its amazing. I just hope that if/when the illness gets to much and he maybe cant be as active as he is now he has a lot of good people around him, you dont get to hear much about his personal life (which is no bad thing) An inspirational fella.
ScouseLad - Your right he just breathes boxing. He used to live in a shitty flat next to the WILD CARD but Pacquiao and others persuaded him to move into a nice new house early this year. I think its nice how his Prize Boxer (Pac) thinks that much of him to be concerned over his well being enough to persuade him to move and start getting on with life outside of the gym. Shows the respect between them is a 'two way thing'

Roach has often said that his relationship with Pac was like that of a father and his son. Might have to do with the fact that Roach has no kids and Pac did not exactly have a model father when growing up. You can also tell that Roach given his experience in the ring generally cares about his fighters and their well being. Him taking out Penalosa against a monster like Lopez must have been really tough for Penalosa but he's just looking out for his best interests.
By the time he finishes, he'll be regarded as one of the greatest ever. Absolute master of his subject.
I completely agree the greatness roach as a caoch. Unlike mayweather he is not a me, mine person. He give credit to his fighter more than to himself.
