Bunce & Hayemaker go where? If Setanta go under

I would love it if channel 4 or 5 threw there hat in the ring. The Bunce hour has a channel 4 type of wackiness about it and could pick up a big cult following there.

4 & 5 have their own off-shoot channels - E4, More 4, 4music, 5ER, 5US. Imagine paying a tenner a month for 4Sports or 5Sports covering areas not serviced well by Sky, and big fights on the main terrestorial channel, or a possible PPV link.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Setanta. I hope for the same of the sport that it get's though any troubles it may currently have.

If you think about it, there really is no place else for boxing on our TV's.

Sky better buck their ideas up otherwise. I hope Setanta sort themselves out so it's not left to chance.

All the channels will see a large investment in boxing as a reason why setanta went under, if they do. Do not expect the Bunce Hour, German or Top Rank contracts to be picked up.

Expect Haye to get a deal with ITV or Sky but not for the amount of cash he got from setanta. Really depends on having the titles.

Setanta will go under - there is no chance of them generating the kind of money they need to stay afloat.

I believe that Setanta will cease transmiting within days of The FA Cup final...

Haye vs Wlad will end up on SKY.

I'm not sure about that. I think SKY will be buying the contract of Setanta's creditors and it will be the original contract rather than a revised one.

That is on british telly, world wide it is still one of the biggest, best paid sports ever....

    Not at all...

Channel 5 will pick some up. They were interested a few years ago (showing delayed coverage of a Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight title fight) but Setanta paid over the odds for the contract. They also show ESPN friday night fights EVERY week.

Channel 5 use to show a lot of the overseas football now on Setanta and Channel 4 use to show the Latin-american football in the early hours before Setanta paid, yet again, silly money to show them. Both are willing to show sports.

The promoters, when left with no-one else to turn to, will sell to the "normal" channels.

    Boxing goes where?

We need a channel dedicated just to boxing. I doubt it would pull the casual fans in though.

we had that Canadian based channel the fight network on sky for a while. shame it went under, was dedicated to boxing and MMA and showed Munoz-Mijares. If it had stayed around it might have been able to pick up the boxing hour and the Sauerland contract.
Hopefully Nuts will get back into boxing, they did a bit last year until Setanta paid more for those sauerland fights.
