    Devastated is not the word.

No excuses, Hatton was beaten comprehensively by the better man. However, Hatton remains as the only fighter I've followed religiously since getting immersed in this sport. He gave me trips to Vegas, great fights and great arguments.

What ever the future may hold for Hatton, I feel the need to just say 'thanks'.

I realise I'll probably get a mountain of abuse for this (TFFP, I've pulled down my pants, I'm bent over and I'm waiting your ass whooping!) but that was the worst I'd felt after a boxing event. I remember when Lewis KO'd Tyson and feeling that that was the end of a legend but by then Lewis had taken over in my mind as a hero of boxing. Manny is a legend and my second favourite boxer on the planet, but seeing Ricky humbled so brutally was hard to bear. It's the nature of the game. I called it wrong (Hatton KO9 for the record).

Just had to get these things off my chest.

    Let the insults commence...

He was already well into his rampage by then scoring another 2 round TKO, funnily enough, on the undercard. I remember being more interested in him at the time than Tyson v Lewis.

I know the feeling Paddy it was **** seeing Ricky go out like that, as you say Pac's just a fabulous fighter so no shame in losing to him really.

Just wished it had been more competitive!

The Hatton haters/vultures have been in full flow since the fight so you were right to stay away.

Suddenly Hatton was an average fighter or a fraud depending on who you speak too.:-(

You won't get many insults. Many posters got the prediction wrong including some of the best posters on the whole site who really know their **** so I wouldn't worry.

I predicted a Hatton TKO in 10 providing he got past the first 6 rounds.

Pacquiao is an absolute animal. We're very lucky to be witnessing someone like this right in their prime. I just really hope the Mayweather fight can happen late in the year or early next year.

I pretty much anticipated that reaction to be honest. Always the same.

Totally agree mate, it was Hatton who got me properly into boxing when I was in Iraq in '05 and me and my RSM and a couple of mancs stayed up till stupid o'clock to watch him beat Tszyu. I've always liked boxing watching Tyson, Benn, Lewis etc but that was when I really started following it and for that I will remain loyal.

I was absolutely gutted in Vegas when he lost to Floyd and again Saturday but not as bad because Pac is a good bloke and a good champ and I believe we are witnessing a true great.

Hatton has being great for boxing in Britain and you'll always have your haters when you are at the top of any sport and Hatton is no different but everyone I know likes him and he's got a lot of people into boxing.

Personally I hope he retires but I see him having one big farewell fight at wembley against Khan or De La Hoya.

Dont worry, Hattons still the better fighter, Pacquiao just got lucky :hey

In all seriousness though, virtually everyone was surprised by the speed and manner of the defeat.

It looked as though someone had transplanted the defense of Froch and the chin of Khan onto Hatton overnight.

At the end of the day, theres no shame for Hatton though, his two defeats in his career were both to the No1 PFP fighter on the planet.

    I'm exactly the same, Paddy.

I was absolutely gutted when he lost like that, made even worse by the fact that he was in such a terrible state on the floor.

I felt sick watching it. I've watched the fight again since and still can't quite believe what happened.

Anyway, the thing that bothers me the most is the end of the Vegas trips. Say what you want about Hatton himself but the trips over to Vegas were legendary.

It's time for him to retire in my opinion but I made a lot of good mates from those trips and for that itself it's been a worthwile journey supporting the 'Hitman'.

i think if it had happened in the later rounds then sort of fair enough. It's the fact it was so devastating so early that sticks in my throat a bit.

Yes Manny's fast but it was a bloody haymaker and Hatton didn't even see it.........

When things like that happen I want someone to stand up for british boxing's littler chaps and put things RIGHT DAMMIT!!!!!!............Don't know who the hell that's going to be like!

    Agreed.

Kell Brook looks good but needs to step up the level of opposition. Outside of that there is no one, on domestic level, below SMW that looks ready to take on the world at the moment.

Maybe Khan can do it with Roach behind him. I'm not a fan of Khan but I hope he can go on to be great. Would be good for the British fight scene with Calzaghe retiring and Hatton looking to be heading the same way.

I dont think Froch is the real deal yet. Haye would be huge if he can get a HW belt though.
