Before this fight, I thought some of the *******s here were crying too hard about people using revisionist history. But they've got a point.

Oscar goes in better than a 2-1 favorite against Manny (Floyd was a 2-1 favorite in their fight). Comes out as a shot fighter that Manny was "picking" on.

Hatton goes in as an underdog, but clearly the dominant 140 pounder of the decade. Comes out as a shot fighter that everybody decent at 140 would decapitate.

    Those are some strange contradictions.

yeah it may have seemed to be like a risk when looking at the surface of the fight (which i did as well as most people) but most people who actually thought about it.... only the top of the class (roach & others) knew oscar was tore up and was getting tagged against steve forbes.... i mean prior to the fight i woudlnt have agreed but thats the fact of the matter you know....

i might have made a mistake... i checked on boxrec & it said the weight was 145

i didnt even know that....so i mean realistically accomplishments wise you could say they are close to equal

Except for Roach who knew that Pac could beat him. ;)

He also knew that he could beat Hatton.

I think Roach was so convinced 100% that Pac could beat both.

Oh yeah, Pac cherry picked bigger men in Diaz, ODLH and Hatton!:patsch 90% of the experts didn't give Pac any chance of beating Oscar before the fight, how's that for cerry picking?:huh

like i said ..... on the surface this fight looked like a mis match but if you chose to look deeper you would have seen

    - stevie forbes was landing on oscar
    - roach SAID! oscar couldnt pull any more.. he had more insight than any poster
    - oscar came down in weight from his last 9 fights... big transition

the fact of the matter is although we as the fans made pacman the underdog... the truth of the situation is that he wasnt as big as an underdog as we truly made him seem

and i said pac's win over hatton is definitely much better than floyds win over hatton...we can agree on that

I don't think either are cherry pickers. But Manny has taken on the tougher challenges in my opinion. His wins and his performances were more dominating than that of Floyds.....they were all good wins but Manny's wins meant more.

Remind me who's fighting Pac's leftovers now and dragging him up 2/3 weights in the process....

If you are going to count Diaz as a cherry pick for Pac, why aren't you counting Corley and Mitchell cherry picks for Mayweather at 140 & 147? DLH wasn't even a legit champ @ 154. Is that a cherry pick too? Vacant belt Vs. Mayorga? :patsch

And Baldomir was the WORST champ ever... please...if you are going to try to act like the "voice of reason" be reasonable. Any # of WW's would have whupped Baldomir.

I'm sure you thought you had some valid points, but this is a rubbish comparison.

The key difference is the reference point: Floyd was at 147 and didn't fight any of the elite at that weight that poses a real threat. Where as Pacman faught the elites of his divisions already and decided to move up for more challenges, fights where he was suppose to lose due to size difference.

Cherry Picking is fighting fights that poses low risk, mayweather does this most of his career. Pac faught in fights where it could be a pickem fight or he's the underdog and continuously pushing himself further by challenging the big elites.

    Clear as day...

This is more of a pacman hate thread then comparing both Floyd's and Manny's last 3 opponents. The fact is Manny did what Floyd couldnt do to Oscar and Hatton, and thats destroy them both. This as he was coming up in two divisions he has never fought before at.

on the other hand, the midget pac obliterated, shot to pieces, took all the rounds and retired those 3 and flushed them like a diarrhea in the toilet bowl...:lol::lol::lol:

so, the midget got the upper hand :yep:yep:yep

    end the thread LOL
