Just one mind wondered to my mind and became an interesting thing for me. Namely, boxers with other 'more prestigous' belts (WBO, IBF, WBA, WBC) also show IBO belts, bring into the ring/press conferences, also wear it while photographers are taking photos of them. It seems they are pride they have it, cuz if they weren't, they wouldn't show it around the world in media. The one other thing that interested me are champs that own the championship of IBO, for example Wladimir Klitschko, Tomasz Adamek, Chad Dawson, Manny Pacquaio. For sure the highest world class boxers, best boxers in their divisions have the IBO title. Although these boxers have it, bouts are not organised with same big promotion like WBA,WBO, IBF or WBC champ fights now. Certainly, names that I mentioned higher have at least one more other belt, but can't remind to myself if have ever been a fight only for IBO title (maybe there hasn't been any). Is the IBO underrated ? It's not a big deal or it is to be a champ of IBO ? Maybe it will be changed in the future and the IBO title will be as important and prestigous as currently 4 the biggest ? How do you think ? Any thoughts ?

If they start to acknowledge the IBO belt then things will be even worse. 4 belts is enough. Next the WBU belt will be acknowledged.

Agree with the above poster. Regardless of how good it actually is or isn't it cannot be properly recognised as four is more than enough. Five would be ridiculous and we'd never see a unifed champion

I don't know where half of these belts come from. I could swear it just appeared out of nowhere one day in Lennox Lewis' lap.

Perhaps to compensate him for losing the WBA?

If somebody brought a fake plastic wrestling belt bought at a random toy store to the ring, people would be none the wiser.

If we do start reconizing the IBO title, we have to get rid of one of the big 4.

    Why?

The WBO didn't replace the IBF.

Hell, in 10 years time there will probably be another 3 major belts :nut

    Doesn't Toney have one?

Because like someone already said if we start having 5 title orgs we would never have a unified champ, there are 4 belts now and theres already diffacult to get a unification match. I'm just saying that if we do start to acknowledge the IBO, geting rid of another one before we start having 10 or 20 orgs would be a good idea. Theres already enough with Super and Interim belts with the other orgs, now imagen if the IBO started doing all that too.

Oh, I completely agree that it will be ridiculous. It is embarrassing enough now.

But I only see it getting worse.

And like I added on to my last post, Theres already enough with Super and Interim belts with the other orgs, now imagen if the IBO started doing all that too, we would never have a true champion!

    IBO belt is not prestigious.

Their rankings on the other hand make more sense than most!

If that is true (I don't bother to read the rankings), then all it will take is another excellent fighter with a huge fan base to make the IBO a major belt :yep

The IBO uses a computer rating system. Its not perfect, but its far better than WBC, WBA, IBF, or WBO rankings. Check out the IBO web site and rankings. They are better than box rec, and list a fighters record vs top 50 IBO ranked guys.

The IBO picks one champion on merit. I believe their champion if active can only lose the belt in the ring. The IBO belt itself is not a true world title belt, but its the least corrupt of the world title belts by a good margin.
