As of now, do you rank Pacquiao higher than any of these five greats?

I favor Duran as the next guy, but I wont go out and say NO chance. I think like Dejesus, Pac can win 1 or 2 fights in a Series of fights, there both great fighters. I belive great fighters should always have a chance.

Hench the reason I dont buy the No chance of Marciano vs Ali, Bowe, Holmes ete.
Or any thing in that nature. I pretty sure if Fraizer was giving 100 more tries at Foreman, he could pull a upset here or there.

This may have had something to do with Sanchez dying at 23 years old!

How did Pacquiao's resume at 23 1/2 years of age stack up vs Sanchez?

Higher than Sanchez, who never established he was the best featherweight in the world.

Of course it has something to do with Sanchez dying at 23, but you can't give him any more than what he actually did. His resume is what it is, and as amazing as it is for someone so young, as good as it is for anyone, it's still not as impressive as Pacquiao's.

But the purpose of comparing resumes is to judge the relative merits of each fighter. When one fighter died or quit at a very young age, comparing resumes is pointless because it doesn't tell you anything about their relative skill level.

To judge Pac vs Sanchez, you need to look at other comparisons like head to head ability, how they look on film, how they did against other top fighters etc. On these comparisons Sanchez looks superior IMO.

Since Pacquaio's career isn't over it is premature to say. I would tend to think he is already even with some of those names already.

when Dejsus beat Duran in the non-title fight he was young fighter still developing his craft, barely out of his teens, something often forgotten when that loss gets mentioned, whereas Esteban was as technically polished and physically able as he would get.At the same stage in pac's career he wouldn't even have beaten barrera yet and was not far removed from losing to the likes of Torrecampo.

That's not the one you would match with pac at lightweight if you wanted a prime for prime fight, though i can see why it gets mentioned often as pre-prime Duran was already so good it tends to get aken for granted he was the finished article.

Regardless of title fight or not, even a prime Duran can be beat.
Lets not forget Dejesus gave Duran some tought rematchs.

I would not just write off Pacs chances to NO Chance.

Of course he can be beat.

It's just i've seen that fight mentioned a lot lately whenever Duran comes up in fantasy fight scenarios as a sort of "hey remember, if dejesus could do it..." caveat.

Which is fair enough when you have most posters picking DUran over other established all-time greats at lightweight, but when it starts appearing for smaller fighters that have had very few fights at the weight it gets a bit much.

I don't think deJesus did give Duran some tough rematches. I think the third fight was pretty much a patient, systematic and protracted beating closed with a horribly brutal ending. It was tough - but not for Duran.

Mantequilla, what would you answer to the title question? Do you rank him higher than any of those five at the moment, and if so which one(s)?

Sanchez outboxes Pacquaio, Pacquaio outspeeds Arguello and maybe stops him late, Pac has too much speed for Chavez too and Chavez isn't breaking him down. All would be thrillers
