Who would have been the ideal trainer to develop Nick Wells as a pro?

Who would have been the ideal trainer to develop Nick Wells as a pro? He was hands down one of the greatest amateur fighters of all time? What happened to this guy in the pros? Who would have been the right guy to take him and develop him into the pro the he should have been?

 

Nick's son used to post on this Board from time to time.

I will ask some boxing people in Dallas and see who they thought should have managed Nick.

 

I was going to ask whether he was Nick Wells son. He has to be. It's all he talks about.

 

no , i live in fort worth and watched nick fight through the golden gloves and thru his amateur career. i also chime in on lots of other threads. yet im not as seasoned as some you guys on here. i do admit i like hearing all of yall go back and forth at each other. nick was and still is a local hero, and i find that interesting.

The thing is, I missed the Nick Wells Season when it was shown on ESPN Classic.

Well, who do you think could have trained him? Eddie Futch, who may have accentuated his style? Gil Clancy who may have developed a more patient approach?

 

i liked conteh when he fought hutchins/ considering he was coming off of 2 broke right hands. anybody has to admire that.

 

i was actually thinking frankie carr, his trainer he had when he was fighting in the military.

 

John was an excellent fighter. His showing vs Saad Muhammad 5 years past his prime, proved to Americans how could he was. Loads of my uncles went to the Stinger Hutchins bout. Pity it was stopped so early, it was starting to warm up.
