So basically the things that made him the fighter he was and gave him the legacy he has.

 

One things for certain, if he was fighting today all the Keyboard Warriors around here would be ripping him to bits for that WBO reign.

 

I was a big fan of Eubank back in the day - very few were!!

I can't think of any real comparisons to get across how it was back in the day - it was a bit like being a fan of a UK famous - interesting - version of say Junior Witter to say a total media darling like Ricky Hatton. That's not a very good example but the best I can do...

Everyone absolutely loved Benn, and loved to hate Eubank. Strangely, and I don't know why, I was a fan of Eubank and never took to Benn the loudmouth lad. I've grown to very much like them both with time.. I think I may even prefer Nigel nowadays.

I was very young at the time, but that is how I remember it anyway.

He'd probably deserve it too!

I was pretty young at the time and to me a world champ was a world champ. I though Eubank amazing!!

Looking back I appreciate more with what Benn did, and definitely appreciate his resume more too.

 

I could never take to Eubank when he was him his heyday, the whole "country gentleman" thing he used to do put together with some decidedly average title defences and being a big fan of Nigel Benn put me right off him.

I mellowed a little bit towards him at the end of his career (as a lot of people did I think, I've never figured out whether this was due to me mellowing out or Eubank just being on the TV less!!!) and his personality now leaves me feeling largely indifferent rather than actually annoying me like it did in the mid 90's.

Great fighter though and a brave man who took his lumps and came back fighting when he had to!!!

 

It is because of Chris Eubank that I love boxing, thanks Chris!!
