    Ellis is surprisingly strong, i always feel!

    Loads of heart, too.

    The referee runs about like a total fanny.

    Short interview. He was always guilty about hammering his sparring partners. "I got these guys with speed - not to punch on!" Story goes he used to lose to them on purpose at gambling.

    Yeah, i'm always surprised how is able to move Joe back on a couple of occasions and keeps Joe's arms pinned for seconds. It surprises me.

    Ellis was no paper chump either - paper champ, yes, but not chump. Unlike other paper champs, he had been forced to earn his title, and had to claw his way through an entire elimination tournament in which he entered as the biggest underdog of the lot, and beat a string of legitimately rated contenders to get his title.

    Frazier made it look like he didn't even belong in the same arena with him, let alone the same ring.

    The referee is Tony Perez.

    The 4-fight series of Quarry (1), Ellis, Foster, & Ali was Frazier at his best.

    I would not be too sure the best Ali could of ever handled that version of Frazier.

    I will never understand how in the hell Ellis got up at the end of the 4th. The man must have been about a step away from being a zombie. :scaredas:

    A lot of courage, a lot of heart, but never in his life could he beat Frazier.

    I wonder how Ellis felt before the rematch in 1975. Why the **** would you want to rematch a beast like Frazier in the waning moments of your career? You just have a painful beating to look forward to along with possible permanent damage. Not a nice prospect.

    I don't think any version of Ali would have beaten that Frazier either.

    Thing is, there were very few fighters, ever, with a shorter expiration date then Joe Frazier. He was damaged goods before he ever even got into the ring, physically that is.
