I've always said you must use a stiff jab to defeat Pac-man. That freezes him just enough to catch him with something behind it, especially when you have the speed and counter-punching of Floyd. I'm quite sure Roach knows this is one of the few things to correct with Pac if he fights Floyd though, so I think it will be a little harder to do it than when Pac fought JMM who was effective doing it, but Floyd's the one to do it! Pac is a rhythm fighter, and a jab is always used to disrupt rhythm as well. Floyd also has the quality of adaptability which is why I give him the edge over Pac right now. You never know though, maybe Pac can get even better like he's been doing each fight! Pac is not as easy to time now as he used to be so that's why only a fighter of JMM or Floyd's level could be successful implementing certain things against Pac at this point. :rasta
That's a good point too. Floyd can't give up too many rounds before he gets it going! Pac will make him fight, there's no getting around it!
Manny Pacquiao has the right blend of speed, footwork and punching power to really give Floyd Mayweather Jr a tough fight. Personally I would expect the fight to be very good and possibly go to a decision. Pac has vastly improved since the Morales bout and has great head movement so this magical jab you mention can be easily offset. Roach is a master of his craft, Trust me he will find holes in Floyd's game too and exploit them.
So the blueprint for Floyd to win is to copy a strategy used by Morales to fight a completely different and vastly inferior version of Pacquiao?! Way to move with the times dumbass. You're a tactical mastermind. :good
The guy thinks Floyd has a better resume than Pacquiao. He is as impartial as Floyd "The Joke Coach" Sr.
Pacquiao has those disadvantages the thread starter mentioned but he still may be able to catch a rusty Mayweather off guard with his speed and swarming style. Expect Manny to land more than a few shots on Mayweather come fight night, but also expect Mayweather to block and slip a lot of shots and do enough to make it a close fight that goes the distance.
The only difference is an extensive use of the right hook. To bad for Manny that he will be punching up at Floyd while Floyd has his chin tucked under his shoulder. Any right hook Manny throws will be a grazing blow at best. He still very rarely works it to the body and his jab is pawing. That leaves Floyd to deal with Manny's straight left and straight left only. Oh yeah, I've seen that fight before.
