Your answer was yes. That was all I needed to know. I will not be wasting one second of time nor one word in type in the future. The End. :good

there were genuine efforts to secure a fight with hopkins by warren and calzaghe in 2002 with a testimony from showtime's head of boxing to back this up.

should we swap the names of the above fighters around, no doubt we'd never hear the end of it.

on the other hand, joe never did much to secure a bout with RJJ.

Sorry, but that lamentably puerile attempt at drawing me into your bitchfest world has failed, as will all subsequent ones. I mean what I say, that answer was the final nail in the coffin. I come onto this forum to discuss boxing, not to argue for hours over whether black is white, when it's black and the person I'm arguing with is blind and a sociopath. Good night to you sir.

As I've said, we shall not be conversing again, so these replies are pointless. You go your way, I'll go mine mate. No serious hard feelings, it's just a total waste of time.

I understand why he's pissed off, you seem to be suggesting that Calzaghe actively pursued a fight with Jones around 1998-2002, which is quite clearly bollocks. Calzaghe never did anything but talk **** and fight nobodies from 1997-2006.

I do remember him calling out Jones and Hopkins after beating Kid Fire McIntyre around 2000-2001 though, he even claimed in that interview that both of them were running scared from him. That clearly doesn't count, apart from the comedy value, obviously.

You've got the wrong end of the stick.

We were talking about how Calzaghe could have hypothetically got Jones in the ring before 02. Not what actually happenend. We all know that one.

Here is a perfect example of why I say this is a total waste of time:

You see, I just don't have the time for this bizarre shite.

I doubt you'll understand even now, but at least I have explained myself satisfactorily for my own conscience so that in future we both remember why we don't converse.

That's not how I read the conversation, it seemed to me he asked you a straight question and you answered it with the wrong answer.

I remember those days well, I was a fan of both fighters back then. I wised up to Calzaghes antics and came to thoroughly despise him as one of the ugliest characters I've ever seen in the sport. He admits now that he was bullied as a child - all I can say is he's never let go of that as far as I can see, and worse than that he eventually became a bully himself. If he had a tenth of the gonads that Hatton has then he might be remembered more favourably by real fans of the sport, but he didn't, so he won't.

I have not read a satisfactory answer as to why Hopkins agreed to fight Calzaghe in 2002 and then the next day retracted the offer and then asked for double. What changed overnight?

A fax probably arrived in the middle of the night saying the fight would be in Slappys back garden, with Enzo as the referee.
