Not true. Castillo had fought a few times above the weight at 140 and 147. His 3 fights leading up to the Hatton bout were at 140 - Corrales, Reyes and Ngoudjo. He even won a 140 bout after Hatton.
Which bit is not true about the $ involved with Corrales? Many would agree Castillo was over the hill. How did this get onto the Castillo fight anyhow??:huh
McClellan was at the very top of his game and blasting out everyone, Castillo was clearly on the slide and had been involved in too many hard battles. The former is a much better win.
If Ricky retired tomorrow I'd give it to Benn, but only just. I rate the McClellan and Tszyu wins equally, both higher than Castillo.
can't see how anyone could rate hattons win over tszyu as equivalent to benn's over mclellan, but if you take those two fights out of the equation, their records are pretty even. if hatton fights on and wins another title against decent opposition (someone like bradley), he might overtake benn.
Benn all day long for me,he took on the best in Britain and we had a few good MW/SMW back then.He never ducked a challenge abroad he destroyed Barkley in America who had beaten ATG Thomas Hearns and was always ready to mix it with Jones jnr. Toney was close to fighting Benn but decided he wanted none of it..........
Benn may have been a better fighter but your speaking a load of tosh. Barkley was recovering from a drug addiction and in poor form. Benn didn't want to fight Jones or Toney.
So Benn calling out Jones after every fight and in the press means he didn`t want to fight him? Toney insulted Benn live on tv during the build up to Benn Eubank II and Benn told him he would fight him anytime anyplace.Benn wasn`t about bravado he wanted to fight the best.
I say Benn, just, but I'm a bit biased because he is my all time favourite British boxer (I'm a big fan of Hatton too). Both had one massive win (McClellan/Tszyu). Both had a number of other good victims (Wharton, Nardiello, Piper, Simms, Galvano, Barkley, DeWitt plays Castillo, Malignaggi, Tackie, Urango, Collazo, Oliveira). Neither were afraid to leave their home turf and mix it with the best. One thing for Hatton, he has only ever lost at the very, very top level, but then again I don't think you can hold Benn's last 3 losses against him because he was done at top level by that point.
Benn was calling out Jones fight after fight he kept using the words "lets have a tear up" You tell me why Benn - Toney didn`t happen!!
Probably Benn.... but not by much. Had Hatton got out of the WBU a year or so earlier and beaten a few better guys he would get the nod. I don't see anyone out there that Hatton can beat that will push him above Benn either.
Are you on glue...That is the most schizophrenic post i've ever read:nut Its also utter bollocks. Personally,I cant seperate them. Different erra's. My fav British fighters are 80's-Mcguigan, 90's Benn and Hatton in the naughty's.
