But the Bika fight was when Calzaghe was active and looking to keep busy/ earn while his career was progressing. Dawson is asking him to come out of retirement for one fight, the situations are different.

Since the Kessler fight, Calzaghe has been coasting to retirement, picking the fights that (for whatever reason) interested him, Dawson obviously just doesn't bring enough to the table at this stage in JCs life to make him want to fight again.

WTF? Sakio Bika was in the Contender final he proved his worth beating Jaidon Cordington in one of the great matches of late. At 46-0 Calzaghe is by far one of the greatest fighters of the modern era? Whats your problem? Tarver, Johnson etc doesn't prove your worthy of a fight with Joe. They are strictly B-level.

Sakio Bika didn't ask for a king's ransom. He knew his worth and accepted a purse accordingly.

Even though Manfredo isn't a name over here, he still has a bigger name than Dawson, solely off the Contender series. As Calzaghe was starting to make his name in America, he needed a guy who had mainstream recognition across the pond too and Dawson didn't have that then and doesn't have it now. As bad of an opponent Manfredo was, that fight served a purpose in leading up to Calzaghe/Kessler, Calzaghe/Hopkins and then Calzaghe/Jones.

I think the other point is how much Dawson was after. If the money in boxing was given out based on talent, he would have deserved the type of money he was after, but it clearly isn't. It's a business, so you can't expect to be given $6-8m, when you're bringing the fanbase of about 15 to the table. If Dawson wanted the fight, he should have offered to fight Calzaghe for the same money he got for Johnson or Tarver, which would have been nowhere near the $6-8m he was after for fighting Calzaghe.

Dawson priced himself out, it's as simple as that. We as fans may liked to have seen it happen, but it just wasn't feasible.

You be surprised how many people came up to me asking about that fight, people who only really knew Kahn, Hatton Cazaghe where aware of who Manfredo was. What they didn't realize was the difference inbetween Contender level boxing and world class boxing. I saved a few of them money by telling them not to take the 4-1 that was being offered on Manfredo.

OK.... First and foremost I am a Calzaghe fan. Secondly the only sarcastic comment I have made was the one about Joe and Enzo following on from Jesus and I made that just because people were making a big deal about the Mac/Zaggy split. All I can say is there must be a lot of people who are skeptical of Joe if they believe what I'm saying is sarcasm.

Someone please give me an example of something I have said that is sarcastic.

So what have I said that isn't true.

    He was 46-0.

He is the greatest of our generation in my opinion.

He outworked Bernard Hopkins in every round and Bernard was beginning to flounder which is why he faked injury for which he easily could have had a point taken off making them 10-8 rounds.

He was more offf balance then hurt when he was knocked down and Tarver, Johnson and Adamek are B-Level. They have some horrible losses between them.

Do I really need to backtrack through all my posts?

''Yep, Hopkins was in big trouble in those rounds I thought he was going to be stopped. They could easily have been 10-8 rounds to Calzaghe (the greatest of our generation). I scored it 120-108 Calzaghe, he through more punches in nearly every round and the first round knockdown was clearly a slip. Haterz
