http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Ipn_Y3iNM That's pretty much my stance on this question. Manny's still a great fighter though.
So how would you guys predict Pac against Sugar Ray Leonard? Not just outcome, but how the fight would go?
Hearns would blast him out. http://www.amazon.com/Joe-Gans-Biog...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241836336&sr=1-1
It's a terrible mistake in management as well as the judgement of the fighter himself, no matter how great to venture too far out in fighting a much larger, naturally bigger man when hopping from division to division. That's why greats like Monzon and Hagler knew where to stay for their maximum benefit. That's what the damned weight classes were invented for in the first place.
Manny Pac has looked brilliant against 2 guys that were perfect for him in David Diaz and Hatton (nobody could have foreseen how open Hatton would be) , and he looked good against a shell in Oscar .. But the memory of the Morales 1 and Marquez 1 still lingers large for me .. Morales out gunned him and Marquez totally schooled him from rd 3 onwards .. As good as Pac is he still needs to convince me that he can beat a guy who can truly box from 135 onwards, whether thats Guzman, Bradley or Mayweather .... I think the Mayweather v Pac fight is gonna be a $100 million dollar fight were Floyd picks him off and stops him in 8 or 9 rounds, pretty comfortably .. But anybody who is putting Pac in with Chavez, Pryor, Arguello, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Cuevas, Benitez etc etc, based on his performances against Oscar and Hatton is nuts ..
Is that a joke ?? Sugar Ray Leonard would do whatever he wanted to do with Pac as would Duran, Hearns, Pryor, Chavez and Whitaker .... He beat Oscar and Hatton but Sugar Ray Leonard is a universe apart from those 2, lets be real ..
I truley believe in Pacquio's skill level to be just as good as the aforementioned greats! However, for a Six Weight world champion, he hasn't exactly cleared out any of those weight classes like the previous champions and is clearly unproven from 135 up. What Pacquio has proved is that he can stick to a gameplan and carry his speed and strength, but what I haven't seen is his ability to take a punch at the higher weight classes. How would Pacquio fare against someone who's skill, ability, and chin are just as or more proven, esp when comparing to the greats. At best I can say Pacquio can hang or would be just as good, but not better than any of the aforementioned greats.
