Omar Navarez is another one you could add to the list of dodgy WBO champs, but Calzaghe, whilst not having one of the top 10 resumes of every world champ of the last 15 years did at least unify the belts and clean out his division eventually.

According to some people his record gets worse every day longer he stays retired.

True he did have Anthony Mundine and Robin Reid there. Although I am not enamored with the fact that he only fought once outside Germany and it was only in Austria.

Joe pulled out twice on Johnson after the fight was made. And yes Brewer gave Joe his toughest fight to that date in a gruelling war. He then fought Mitchell and got dropped badly and seemed to be quite interested in Sven left overs.

Bingo, WBOGUS should NEVER have been given recognition, I remember when Tyson unified the belts in the 80s, some foriegn bum held the WBOGUS title, I wonder since WBOGUS is now recognised will that guy go down as being a world champ?

It was an Italian heavy. His name was Francesco Damiani. Damiani was a crude slugger. Back then most people didnt even know he held a belt. At least the IBF's inaugural champs were guys like Holmes and Hagler. The WBO didnt care who they gave there belt too. But boy did Warren see the pound notes when that belt was made...

The belt only got a modicum of recognition when Mercer won it. Other than that no one gave a shat about the WBO. Its still a bull**** belt to this day.

I would have to say Mosley ... after he beat DLH all of his other big fights he didn't step up to the challenge

i agree its a POS belt but guys like ODLH and the Klits held it, so I heard it has been recognised by the IBHOF, which is a damn shame. Atleast the IBO put its title on the best fighter in a given weight class.
