Sound about right.... that T Shirt was pure PR and Business Genius... gives you an idea of what Hayemaker Promotions can do and will do....:good
I respect Henry Cooper as i do all boxers but lets be honest, this guy made Frank Bruno look like Muhammad Ali .. He's been banging on about that flash knock-down of Ali for 40 years, it was a great shot when Ali was fooling around but the guy has made his whole career from talking about Ali .. If i can remember rightly he had a record of 42 fights, 14 losses , getting beaten by anybody with talent, Patterson, Ali, Ingemar Johannson .. He also got beat by plenty of people with little talent like Joe Erskine, Amos Johnson and Joe Bygraves . How did he get his knighthood ? Did he do alot for charity because it couldnt of been for boxing .. Henry Cooper wouldnt have dominated the light-heavy division in any era, anybody who thinks he could, either hasnt seen him fight or is letting they're patriotism get the better of them ..
Why would you want to give Lennox Lewis a knighthood .. If you give him one, you may as well give Calzaghe and Hatton one too .. Lennox Lewis got stopped by 2 of the worst belt holders in heavyweight history, at least Hatton was stopped by the 2 best fighters of his generation .
why would you not?he only avenged every loss, and reigned supreme and once he retired, the heavyweight division lost its edge.
...and he was heavyweight champion at the top (or near) of the division fro 11 years. Not many of them ever dreamed of being light-welterweight champ put it that way. :yep
It'll be Haye's detached head on the canvas on fight night. Henry stands for old fashioned decency. Haye's just an ass.
Cooper captured peoples attention for a very long time time and fought a string of top names. Haye has not beaten anyone of note and ****ed about in a wank division because he knows the first ok shot by an heavy will finish his career.
Cooper got a knighthood not so much for what he acheived in the Ring but what he meant to the British public. He's arguably the most popular fighter ever produced by this country. Lennox Lewis has a much better boxing resume, but what does he mean to England? He was born here but grew up in Canada, fought in the olympics for Canada, only moved back to England because he stood a better chance of getting rich as a Union Jack waving fighter than a maple leaf waving fighter, and then pissed off to America at the first oppurtunity he got.
Haye has been gagging for this fight for a long time and does not need to sink to publicity garbage like the T shirt ,and it was always going to be easy to sell 50000 bums on seats..the bookies have Wlad as favourite and my money is on him too...much as I like D H I think he may regret taking this fight with only 2 fights in the top division
that just about sums him up. 55 fights 40 wins 1 over a contender (zora folley) and KO'd in the return.he was sports personality of the year when ken buchanan was the best light-weight on the planet. he's made a living out of putting ali on the floor and moaned for 38 years about joe bugner getting a decision over him.he's the male version of the queen mother.she won the second world war and cooper bled.
Will never forget him decking Clay that night and only the cheating quick thinking Angelo saved the Lips ass that night. The trouble with our 'enry is that he was always a wannabe establishment and now...the gong makes him think he speaks for all...though I think Haye never needed to go down that road as putting on that Tee shirt was unnecessary . getting back to the Queen Mum of boxing...he has done a lot of good work for charity but the establishment wannabe lost his shirt in the Lloyds of London insurance market and sadly had to flog his Lonsdale belts...soft spot for the 'ol boy but he was a man of his time and lucky he is not around today
Really, how? The break between rounds went a couple of seconds over. You're well behind the times if you believe that crap about the ref going backstage to look for gloves. My suggestion is, watch the film of the fight for yourself.
We shouldn't judge 'Enry too 'arshly. He's a product of a different era, when respect was more easily given and boxers didn't bad mouth each other - maybe because it was an even harder sport than it is now.
