Hey man, can you describe how to throw the jab a little more? The part you wrote about "It steps, too! But don't lean forward, the weight is on the back. I know this feels fuucking weird..". I got confused with that part. Can you explain a little more?

    Thanks,

Step with the jab. 3/4th of your weight should be on the back foot, the anchor foot. If you're right-handed, the back foot is your right foot. You keep it BEHIND you so you don't square-up and fall forward or backwards punching or getting punched. It gives you balance. When you jab, you step forward with the jab. The left foot, or lead foot should follow the jab. Step with it. Step first with the lead foot, following the jab, and then bring the anchor foot forward. Don't drag the anchor foot, bring it up and over. It's pretty simple, don't overthink it. It's a quick, small movement. Punch-step! Punch-step.

Let me know if you need more advice. I can put something up on YouTube if you're still confused. I'm new to this myself so I'm mostly in the same boat, always asking my coach if I'm doing it right haha. Cheers mate.

take quick, small steps. and as few a possible. you looked like you were having spasms before you could get to the right position and open up with a combo.

one thing i'd disagree with other well-meaning posters is your speed. i'm not saying you don't have it, but punching the way you did can create the illusion of speed.
believe me i worked out on the heavy bag for 2 years before joining a gym and used to dance around throwing punches like muhammad ali. i tell you what, i felt fast as hell. it was only when i joined a gym and had a couple of sparring sessions much later that i realised i would've gotten KILLED fighting like that.
like others said, slow down and get the basics right.
    good luck.

I don't know why people have to be mean and post insults.Everybody has to start somewhere.
I didn't get a chance to see your video but from reading the other posts I think your trying to do too much without nailing down the basics.
Why don't you just concentrate on keeping your hands up and working just on your jab-no other punch or anything else. And be patient as it will take you awhile to develope your jab.As far as which fighters to watch and learn from what fighters do you have on DVD?I always use to watch Virgil Hill as I thought he had a great jab.Ike Quartey had a great jab as did Larry Holmes and Thomas Hearns. For southpaws Wright and Whitaker had great jabs.
Just take your time and learn the basics-don't try to learn everything at once.Start with the jab and keeping your hands up.
