I completely agree with you. Having this lack of hunger and mental drive at such a young age is an indicator of things to come.

You know what this reminds me of actually? The Taylor-Wright fight=Dawson-Johnson.

That was the last fight where Taylor was really gunning for the victory and show a champions mentality. And Dawson likewise showed heart in the Johnson fight in pulling out the victory, showed the fire so to speak.

Taylor after that fight though just never seemed to be motivated, despite his victories, and then the horrible fight with Spinks.

Dawson since the Johnson fight, he hasnt really looked focused either. Got that solid victory against Tarver in the first fight, and then this one tonight. But both fights he looked as though he could have done more. He lacks the champion mindset

for a usally being such a dumb **** you atctually typed something relevent:D

now to a more serious note i was thinking the same thing watching the fight. he better not move down to 168 like he stated in an interview a couple weeks back. and i noticed he didn't even call anyone out after this fight.

i was waiting to see if he would call for b-hop .

Kind of knew he'd keep Calzaghe's name out his mouth:yep

Good point! Unfortunately for Dawson, he has not had the truly big fights like Jermaine had with Bernard and he's already having problems!

that was one of the worst post fight interviews I have ever seen. He didnt even thank the fans, thank god, thank anybody. He was disinterested and mumbled all his answers.

For having national exposure on the primary boxing network, HBO, he did a **** poor job promoting himself.

You think he would have a grasp of the situation, knowing that this was his big expose. He didnt.

Tarver is not easy to look good against, to be fair alot of guys at 168 or 175 lack the defense Tarver had.

Totally agree. I've heard so much about chad and watched many of his fights and have always made excuses for him. Like he's young or he doesn't have a great chin but he's still a special fighter. But I think that Jermian Taylor's recent fight kinda helped me put this guy in persepective. He's an incredably skilled B+ fighter, who lucky for him is in a really shitty division. I'm going to appreciate this guy's talent and like all men who put their bodies on the line in this sport I hope he makes as much money as he can and gets out with his health but I'm not going to kid myself with this guy nor am I going to get too attached to him. Cause the second some true fighter comes out of the wood work this guys getting KOed in the late rounds....

Side note: I wouldn't expect this guy to lose for quite sometime and he still has youth, which is often just enough to get you through the sticky spots early in your career. And in his division I think the sticky spots will be few and far between...so I think we could see this guy for a while at the top of the division....Unless /kessler moves up.

Taylor was extremely motivated for Pavlik II, Lacy, and Froch fights. In Pavlik II he was focused and used his gameplan. He stayed off the ropes and outboxed Pavlik, he just ran out of gas.

In the Lacy Fight he dominated Lacy. He imposed his will until he started to fade but he regrouped and finished strong. This is why i dont agree with Jeff M there was no reason for him to be nervous here. Lacy did nonthing in this fight that would make Jermain nervous and he still faded.

In the Froch fight again he did what he wanted to until he got tired. Froch couldnt even hit him he was too slow. Then as Taylor began to fade Froch was able to hit him. Some say it was a rhytm thing i dont think so. I think it was around the 7th rd that there was a good exchange toward the end of the round and at the end of Taylor was talking **** and very animated before going to the corner.

I dont think his drive is missing it is his stamina. He has shown drive and heart since jump street.

I think that may show that the bigger the stage, the bigger problems Dawson will have!

Yeah but Tarver's a slippry dude with a very good chin. And I'm sure chad could hear MAx in the late rounds talking about him being a B+ fighter. He was also probably hoping that he could make a really good impression because guys with his skill set can make a lot of money on HBO if they makes good fights.

He just does not speak well. Why would his confidence be broken. he beat the man twice both times convincingly.
