Enzo Maccarinelli has left trainer Enzo Calzaghe to work with Preston's Karl Ince.

Maccarinelli's promoter Frank Warren says the Welshman could next face Denis Lebedev at the O2 Arena on 27 June.

The 29-year-old Moscow southpaw, who is also on Warren's books, has won all 17 of his professional fights, 12 by knock-out, while Maccarinelli has a record of 29 wins (22 knock-outs) and three defeats.

A strange match. Maccarinelli doesn't want to face a slugger at the moment and Lebedez can dig, especially to the body. Warren promotes them both. What's he trying to do? Finish Maccarinelli's career? If he can't beat Lebedez, where's he going to go? If he does, he's beaten somebody without a reputation. Warren's presumably trying to finish off his career and promote Lebedev's.

Ince isn't a great move. Trust me on that one. Probably better then enzo c due to the geography of the gym but I can name four better trainers within 15 miles.

The choice of trainer is rather strange. If he is going through the hassle of uprooting you'd think he would have picked a bigger name and more respeced figure to work with. I've never even heard of this Ince dude.

Enzo Mac is a talented fighter... he should get his arse over to the states. Theres not enough big guys at a decent level for sprring with on these shores, if Enzo wants to save his career then he should take a gamble & move overseas.
Look at the difference sprring with big guys did to Clinton Woods when he went over to the states for a while, he went onto have a fine swansong to his career.

Enzo must make the same drastic move if he wants to achieve anything else in the sport. He has the raw talent, it just needs to be honed in the right way. Big fishes in small ponds, the Celtic nations have too many good fighters in this situation, guys like Enzo Mac, kenny Anderson etc who need to be mixing it in the american gyms to further their careers, dare I say like a certain Craig McEwan...

Joe Calzaghe was a very naturally talented fighter, his father had not very much to do with his greatness. Calzaghe was a natural.
