Witter took the Judah fight at short notice and very early in his career.Judah would beaten Hatton with ease that night as Hatton was fighting garbage cans until his 40th fight.In fact Hatton never beat a top fighter in his prime as his record is made up of handpicked opponents.

If "worth" was a major factor in Hatton making his fights, then at least 90% of his career would have been wiped out. Junior at the time simply represented a significant risk/reward ration that Hatton and Frank were not willing to gamble on as the result would have been quite clear.

Hattons early career consisted of a vast number of hand picked club fighters. If Witter was as easy as one of those opponents the fight would have happened already.

 

Now is the time 4 Hatton to fight Witter.

 

It is common knowledge in the UK that when Hatton was WBU champ Witter wanted a big domestic showdown but Warren made every excuse to prevent the fight because Witter had the style to beat him.

I have argued for many years now that if Witter had thought Hatton and Ricky had won he would have learned more and possibly improved a bit from fighting a hard hitting, awkward counter puncher like Witter. Although Witter is not as good as Mayweather he would have exposed the same deficiency's in Hatton.

 

at least he WILL be remembered which is more than you can say for witter apart from the astonishing judah performance......

 

This is the most tired line iv ever heard from Hatton fans. Witter took that fight in around his 18/19th or so bout on a weeks notice. While Junior was trying for a world title tilt Hatton was busy making record defences of the WBU. Do the maths stupid. If you think one peformance is the indication of a career than maybe Hatton should have quit after the Thaxton fight.

 

But Witter will be remembered for the Judah fight.

You can talk about circumstances, you can rubbish Hatton, but Witter will be remembered for Judah.

Both will be remembered for the 2 biggest fights they had, and lost.

The difference is Hatton lost to 2 P4P #1s and ATG fighters.

Witter lost to a pre-prime Zab Judah and untested novice Tim Bradley.

 

Junior Witter will be remembered as the guy who did nothing but talk about Ricky Hatton and did absolutely nothing noteworthy in his career. Certainly nobody will remember him for a match. Maybe getting whitewashed by Zab Judah

Witter was suppose to fight D-Hop, but that fight fell through for whatever reason, then he got scheduled to fight Bradley, who turned out to be better then your typical mandatory. Witter clearly underestimated him.

Why do people keep going on about Witter's performance over Judah like it was a big deal. Witter was up and coming and took an opportunity to test himself against a world class fighter but found out he was not quit ready.

He matured allot after that fight and went to be come a very good fighter and beat some decent guys and just wanted to give the UK fans a domestic tare up. Hatton was scared.
