He is only 18 years old, correct? Considering a heavyweight isn't really in his prime until around thirty, Dawejko has time to improve his conditioning drastically. Besides, I wouldn't care what a fighter looked like if he good jump rope all day and thump a heavy bag all day and fight 12 solid rounds he could look like a beach ball for all I care. Boxing is a strange sport. You could have fighters with physiques like Goyo Vargas and James Toney out working somebody who has very little fat on his frame. I've seen the fat guys blast sculpted adonises into Bolivian. A couple of good trainers and some dedication in the gym could turn this youngster into a real fighter. You can't expect him to start at the top but he does have to pay his dues with blood and sweat if he wants to make it.
To update, this kid has now had 2 fights. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=512687&cat=boxer His first fight was nearly a disaster and I think his team has realised that he MUST slim down.
5'10 and 235lbs? ****ing disgusting. What a fat ****. I hope he gets brutally knocked out for being so fat and lazy.
Arreola has proved that he can carry his weight and be effective at a top level, I wouldn't put too much faith in this new lad. Most fighters only start getting fat in the pros, this guy has a bit of a headstart... the new Butterbean?
You guys are messed up. For all you know that kid could be posting on here. Don't despair, Joey, you're doing something right. Keep training and watch your weight. :bbb:bbb:bbb :happyTake it to them Ruskies!!
He had better slim down if hes really going at heavyweight with that much weight. If this is really the "US heavyweight hope", then I wish him luck. I'm still gonna be routing for David Tua this year, and not this fat ****.
Prime depends on fighting style. Big, tall, rangy fighters peak in the late twenties to thirty because they take less damage and have less mileage on their road to the top. This guy however will probably peak in his mid twenties because he'll HAVE to take damage to dish it out. Those guys , unfortunately, don't have the same shelf life because there's less margin for error...:good
I'd be curious to check out how he looks aside from the fat. I wonder if he would have a legitimate career at cruiser or even light heavy.
