Joe Calzaghe's performance against Hopkins = one of the worst performances in boxing.

JT looked better than Calzaghe in both fights. Landed more real punches as well. Calzaghe looked like **** in the Bika fight as well. But I guess his ****** ass fans sweep that **** under the rug.

The Hopkins that Pavlik fought was quite different from the one Calzaghe fought, open your eyes.

How did he adapt. He just threw more arm punches in a desperate attempt to score points and did it sloppy and HE got countered. Calzaghe did not adapt to anything b/c that is his style anyway. To throw 1000 slaps and land about 200. That is his gameplan. Bhop just made him miss majority of his punches and made him look desperate and amateurish trying to land. Sounds like somebody is polishing a piece of chunky ****.

Bullfromborneo would the version of calzaghe who beat kessler have beaten that version of b-hop better? Or put up a better show perhaps?

So is this hating on JC or Hopkins or both?

Hopkins is the dirtiest fighter in the sport.
I for one would have DQ'd him sometime after the ninth. Or at least started counting to 10 a few times he faked low blows.

    Ironically everyone
puts Roy Jones down as being washed up. Yet unlike Hopkins he attempted to win for the entire 12 rounds. Hopkins gave up in the 9th.

    Also on another note.
If Cal doesn't carry any power then why didn't Hopkins just walk through him and counter punch as he was being hit by those slaps?

Exactly, I fail to see why so many people feel Calzaghe " adapted " to whatever the hell Hopkins thought he was going to accomplish by clinching and throwing 6 punches a round. All's Calzaghe had to do was throw a bunch of slaps.

Calzaghe won because of stamina, pure and simple. He may slap alot of the time but he still did enough to win.

JC. And I'm not favoring either one of them in this thread.

    Agree.

In generalship terms Calzaghe fought an excellent fight.

Is this the best you can come up with??? Thread over. Anytime you have to talk about a certain version of a fighter, and then say that, that this fighter didn't look good against Hop of all people...tells me you have not watched enough fights. There are boring fights, and there are tactical fights. Hop-Cal was tactical. Hop had to deal with a guy with fast hands, and Cal had to deal with one of the very best defensive fighters who has ever lived, and you post this garbage...and even mention Kessler and Dawson???:nut

    Footwork...

Second half of the fight he was in, out, in, a few punches and out of range. He got tagged sometimes but the first half of the fight Hopkins was countering him at will, Calzaghe changed the range distance as the fight went on.

Neither fighter looked great in the fight, it's just the styles.

J.T didn't land shite or look good against Hop, and hop's face showed it after two fights. Stop lying to us. J.T never really took Hop's MW title away from Hop. HBO took Hop's title, and now look at the two fighters today. Every boxer can't fight the perfect fight. Mentioning Bika only shows your fake ass hate. I give credit to real haters, and you don't qualify as a hater.

Calzaghe gave Hopkins terrible stamina and a Shannon Briggs-like workrate? I think not. The only thing Calzaghe did stylistically to Hopkins was put him on the defensive, and this is still not an excuse for one of the worst performances in the sport of boxing.
