Joe Calzaghe's performance against Hopkins = one of the worst performances in boxing.

Did you even watch the fight, or did you just watch some Hopkins montage on youtube?

How can winning against the best in the division be classed as "one of the worst performances in boxing"?

It wasn't JC's best night, but your statement is utter tripe.

So Bhop landed a lot on JT in both fights.......Seems like somebody needs to do a little ****ing recon. The main criticism from the ****ing fight is that Bhop did nothing in the early rounds but make JT miss and NOT make him pay. :rofl. He came on late in both fights unlike Calzaghe when he came out the gate outboxing him and landing. Bhop has not had 12 round stamina since forever. If you knew anything about the fight game you would KNOW for a fact that Bhop conserves his energy and comes on late. ****, even in the ODH fight... Lamont, mother****er you ****ing amatuer ass "Old Shady Grady Memory" having mother****ers.

JC isn't great he's good and never could punch with any measure of power or avoid right hands thrown by great fighters.

Watch JC versus Eubank and also Reid, Starie, Brewer, Mitchell, Salem, Ashira, and Bika and you can definitely see further examples of his limitations and even against less than amazing comp.

That said, BHOP was 43. Neither of these guys are/were really P4P in 2008 (especially not Joe - EVER - that is a laughable assertion only possible by a magazine's staff) and not the real LHW champ either. Bernard doesn't want to fight the young bucks at LHW, not because he isn't more talented (and would have kicked their ass in his prime) but because he is a ****ing old man now. Calzaghe has only fought RJJ and BHOP at 175 so he has never been the LHW anything.

Bernard looked a bit soft in his core and less fit in the fight with Joe than he did against Pavlik. He probably took Joe a little bit too lightly. Joe looked like a rank amateur and landed about sixty punches over 12 - the official punch stats were obviously put together by the three blind mice.

BHOP is an ATG. He has dragged out his career for the last three years in fine fashion - for a man who is at the end of his career. He fought prime JT because he needed to cement his middleweight legacy. He was 40/41 years of age for those fights. If not for JT's youth advantage BHOP would have dominated as he is the more talented and aggressive fighter. BHOP was suffering making 160 in middle age which meant he gave up strength to make weight (it is natural to add as we age). Instead, they were close fights because BHOP is OLD.

He then moved up and fought an old Antonio Tarver. AT was 38.

Then he fought Winky was has almost 60 fights and is 36. Winky is physically old - which is why Winky struggled with JT too.

Then he fought Calzaghe who is old and less talented.

Finally he fought Pavlik who, while young, is clearly also far less talented.

Hop's prime was the mid to late 90s. He was old by the time he met Trinidad as he was almost 37 for that fight. That's not prime. That's old.

BHOP is a legend who has been carefully choosing his spots (and he should, he deserves it) as it milks the sport for several more millions as he edges out the door.

BHOP is better than the guys he fights at 43/44. But, he isn't P4P and he really isn't the LHW champ. The men between 26-30 years of age fighting at LHW with little name recognition would pose a greater risk and physical threat than facing guys like Wright or Calzaghe or RJJ today.

BHOP versus JC was an old-timer's fight. BHOP looked old and diminished and JC has never been elite - period.

So if Joe looks bad, it's because Hopkins is a great fighter, but when Hopkins looks like **** it's because he had an off night? Come the **** on, he destroyed Pavlik but Calzaghe gave him fits and had him feigning injury. What the ****.

Your sad, pathetic outlook is one of the worst I've read on this site concerning the Hop-J.T fight lol. Did Hop wait until the latter rounds to beat Tarver, Pavlik and Winky? Dlh, Cal and J.T had speed. I truly can't believe what you are posting lol...

Hop landed on J.T more than he did Cal. Hop landed the more damaging blows too.

Calzaghe was fighting the Ring Light Heavy champ in his first fight at the weight in his first fight in America, considering that any wins a good win.
