Joan Guzman turned down an opportunity to fight Zab Judah at 142!

the fight should be the main undercard of the mayweather-marquez fight

Link? Who does Guzman want to fight? He doesn't belong to the big money fights now. He has to build his reputation again before looking for the big money fights.

    dan rafael reported this..

guzman is lucky that a big name fighter wants to fight him...he can redeem himself in such a big card and he blew it away...

I just don't get it. Guzman is talented enough to beat pretty much anyone out there yet he is turning down an opportunity to fight a big name on HBO. The guy hasn't fought in forever and he isn't exactly 20 years old anymore.

I thought Zab's fighting for the vacant IBF Light Welterweight title?

That's too bad. If he beat Judah he probably would have had more lucrative fights later on. I have no clue who is managing Guzman but he makes the Marquez decision to fight Chris John in Indonesia look good.

I might too if I were Guzman. 142 is way too high imo. His power already dissappeared for a big part at 135. Let alone 142.

Plus, I think he wants a bigger dog than Judah.

Isn't he fighting Randall Bailey for Urango's vacated title?

fighting in an undercard of PBF-JMM against a popular fighter is too good of a chance just to let go...

that was just the initial offer. who knows guzman camp could bargain to make the fight at 140

Guzman would loose. he guy needs to fight some high caliber opponents. When your best opponents are the very limited Barrios & Soto thats hardly proving much for his fans who claims his right up there in the p4p rankings.

but no one wants to fight him...high risk low reward...he excites almost nobody, a clear example of fighter who can not carry his punching power as he moves up in weight

I just heard it was in talks.
Anyway 142 is too much for Guzman.
