Breakdown of a possible Pac-PBF matchup: clash of styles

So in anticipation of a future collision between p4p kings Pretty Boy Floyd Money Mayweather and Manny Pacman Pacquiao, let's start a thread on examining what makes Pacman's offensive prowess so lethal and devestating and PBF's defense impregnable and slick.

Give your take on their style and how a fight could play out.

 

both their offenses are well adapted to find holes in the opponent's defence.

Floyd with his philly shell is open for that straight left both up and down. And as Zab showed, Floyd is there to be countered with a quick right hook.

On the flip side PBF is great at timing people with the straight hand which is the most and maybe the only truly effective punch against Pac.

Pac is more powerful p4p, but Floyd is the bigger man.

 

you know IMO this fight will need more than 12 rounds to decide the outcome, thats how close i believe it will be, i cant wait for it.

 

It will be workrate, relentlessness, determination, power & speed vs ring craft, defence, cleanpunching, speed & power.

 

Pac hs never fought a fighter like Floyd and Floyd has never fought a fighter like Pac. Thats what makes this fight interesting. Floyd has one of the best straight right hands in the game which works great against southpaws. Floyds shoulder roll is not that effective against southpaws.

This fight is a must.

 

Agreed, well said. Corley also had a fairly easy time (by Mayweather standards) getting through with solid stuff.

Judah made it look insanely easy in the early rounds of that fight.

yo im ****ing tired of this ****..... the 2 times floyd got caught "Happened" to be against south paws... so southpaws are his weakness...

cmon now... he shut out both guys... it was a total of 2 punches that people are making a big deal about

 

its blow out of proportion and one of the reasons why he got caught is becasue neither corley or judah are super agressive fighters so mayweather has to sit there and initiate. mayweather is more comfortable when u bring the fight to him. he wont have to against pac-man. having said that, it will be a tought fight for both guys if and when it happpens

 

I'm not saying this would ever happen... (I favor PBF to beat Pac)

how can beating someone that bad = "your weakness" just because the fighter got punched worse than usual in those 2 fights... and against corley it was because floyd came in... not a crack in floyd defense

Depends on how the judges take it. Some go for the guy who had more landed, but some go for the more effective punches. Either way, I see it going 12 rounds. But my gut tells me, Floyd takes it by a wide UD [or could even be TKO]. If Pac takes it, I see it as a definite UD.

 

and again, those guys are not agressive fighters. so mayweather had to be an agressor which is not what he likes to do nowadats so he got caught. he definately be on his A game against pac. if mayweatehr dose anyhting, its raise himself to the level of his competition

 

It can be a tad overplayed, but when you combine the determination and intangibles of someone like Manny Pacquiao with the tactical openings revealed by Judah and Corley it makes for an interesting scenario. You don't want to go too far overboard in either direction, and completely dismissing hard physical evidence and solid clues is just as hasty.

Let's say Pacquiao somehow had Mayweather hurt the way that Judah and Corley did. How do you see that playing out, WWM?
