    Calzaghe nuthuggers are pathetic.

You are trying to say Hearns will loose because Barkley beat him. Barkley got him with a lucky punch after Hearns ripped him to pieces for 3 rounds..... Unlike Calslappy Iran Barkley actually had power.

Hearns would either outbox him...rather easily or knock his ass out.

    Oh dear:patsch

This would be the same Tommy Hearns who out boxed Sugar Ray Leonard for 14 rounds, that's Sugar Ray Leonard who is considered a top 10 ATG by most people.

Anyway, why all this talk of a fantasy match up, why doesn't Calzaghe fight Hearns now. Hearns is only 50 years old and would be another legend Calzaghe can add to his legacy.

    There's nothing "blasphemic" about it.

Finishing Hearns EARLY? I remember it was Calzaghe who used to go down early when he fought past prime RJJ and Hopkins. Hearns would keep him there.

Prime Hearns fought a lot better oposition than Calzaghe, and lost early only once. And Hagler had to take some good shots as well before he knocked him down.

I doubt Calzaghe would win anyway. How? By outboxing Hearns? No way, no one did it. Knocking him down? Well, at least it is possible, but with Calzaghe (lack of) power and (questionable) chin it would probably ended in KO win for Hearns as well.

Well, maybe I misunderstood you after all. I was assuming we were discussing fantasy matchup (prime for prime), but if you meant possible fight when they were both active (which could be even 2006) than you are probably right.

    Are you serious??

Hearns is a legend, who fought legends, who won titles from Welter to Cruiser. And you think Calzaghe, with is meager accomplishments, is a better boxer?? Hearns has more wins by KO alone than Calzaghe has fights.

I would give him a slight chance of winning this fight, if only because of the size difference. More if Hearns is old, which is how Calzaghe seems to like his legends.

Bull****. Calzaghe has a far better chin, far superior workrate and most importantly, an amazing ability to read out an opponent in the first rounds, adapt and maximize his own strengths. Hearns was a brilliant boxer, but not always able to use his advanteges to the max. Calzaghe would have never ever lose to someone with a lesser skill level like Hearns lost to Barkley. He would never ever give away a winnable fight where he is leading on points like Hearns against SRL. Maybe Hearns would outbox Calzaghe for a while, but he could not keep him at bay for 12 rounds. Like most fightes, Hearns needed short breathers and Calzaghe doesn't give those to anyone.

Calzaghe beats SRL ( and I am a big SRL fan), certainly does not get KO'd in three by Hagler and makes Barkley look like an amateur. But Hearns is an ATG from a past era, therefore on this board, he is attributed with supernatural powers, including invincibility against any current fighter.

How many elite opponents did Hearns KO at 168 - 175? He was a good boxer at those weights, not the menacing KO machine he was at 147 - 154. Now he is going to KO a fighter with an iron chin? Calzaghe was prone to be knocked down while off balance, show me a fight where he was seriously hurt.

They are both 6'1 and would fight at the same height...this is about H2H, not starpower. Calzaghe would absolutely starch every 147 - 154 fighter Hearns ever beat, Hearns on the other hand would have his hands full with Kessler and Hopkins.
