Forgot to mention that he made a living feasting on Tito's leftovers such as Oba Carr, Yory Boy Campas, Fernando Vargas, Mayorga, and I may have left out another one or two Tito victims. It doesn't matter if he fought all these names because if you are a hardcore fight fan you would know the majority of them were already past-their-primes or no longer at their physical peak such as Whitaker and Chavez. Oh yeah, Camacho also fought a lot of "names" in boxing so I guess we should consider him in DLH's category since he also got squashed when he fought great fighters.
I don't care if you guys hate on him, he's did alot of things that many fighters haven't done and when you look at how the all time greats went out, thats exatly how they went out. They went out with losses ... it doesn't take anything away from any of them ... there wasn't much else for them to accomplish ... I personally don't like him, but aside from what I think, he's very good and no matter win or lose _ he was willing to fight.
Are you just quoting haters or do you have any substance to these claims???? ODLH had just entered the 154 div. by defeating WBC champ Javier Castillejo one year before fighting Vargas who was the man to beat at 154, who had already beat Winky. In the mean time Winky was fighting bronco McJart for the 100th time. After he beat Vargas he did a tune up and got the rematch with Mosley. He was robbed and Mosley fought Winky, Oscar them moved up to MW and fought Sturm and Hopkins, yes the same Hopkins who kicked Winky's ASS. WTF???? James Page, JL Lopez?? Forrest?? You're aware that by the time Forrest became someboday at 147 ODLH was already at 154 right? Then Forrest got KTFO anyway. atsch Yup, you're a grade A hater, or you're simply repeating their talking points. Had ODLH lost to Ruelas, Hernandez, Gonzalez, Vargas, Chavez, Whitaker then you haters would say that those were also the biggest fights of his career. :-( Raping a 15 year old girl??? Unreal! The girl had no case, and was an obvious *****, who knows, maybe DLH did bang her, but to say he raped a girl!!! Sad man you are. Also fighters like Hopkins, Mayorga, Ali, and many others have said much worse than "Black fighters and hooks to the liver" comment, RUFSerious??!atsch Why would he rematch Sturm?? It was at 160, out of DLH weight. It's not like he celebrated the win like Mosley did in the rematch, or Trinidad did after their fight. Decent fighter with a better resume than Mayweather, Roy Jones, Trinidad, Pacquiao, and Mosley.
What does Meldrick Taylor's loss to Wayne Martell mean to you? Or better yet, how does RJJ loss to Joe Calzaghe change his legacy? Or Chavez loss to Tszyu, or SRL loss to Camacho, or Morales loss to Diaz, those fight change how you view them...if you do, then you're pretty damn ignorant. atsch
I don't know that it could be fairly said the he ducked 'no one' especially in the last couple of years. yes, in hindsight the pac fight looks like a tremendous challenge, but at the time it was viewed by many as odlh picking on a much smaller fighter. pac has since shown he's not that 'small.' but in reality, odlh probably performed soo poorly there b/c he tried to fight the smaller guy at the lighter weight. in any event, i think the majority of fans wanted to see him fight any of the top welters or maybe some light middles or even middleweights. additionally he was a part time fighter over the past few years and only looked for challenges that would be huge sellers (fmw, pac) but against guys he should've had a big advantage in size against. yes he made tons of money but actualy hurt his legacy doing so and could've been fighting champ level fights in his own weight class and he probably could've been 154 champ and thereby improving his legacy.
I know that p4p doesn't hold much weight to alot of people but he fought the #1 fighter in the world a numerous amount of times. #1 at the time he fought DLH Mosley - 2nd fight Trinidad Hopkins Mayweather Pacquiao Whitaker Chavez
Good post. Too many ESB'ers like to repeat things they hear as if it was gospel and end up looking ignorant!:deal
Fought Whitaker Camacho Shane Hopkins Trinidad Chavez Mayweather Pacquiao *Campos *Hernandez *Gatti Hall of Famers ... accomplished fighters *borderline HOF'ers
I don't know if Vargas falls into hall of fame consideration but he definitely has a good rersume - along with Ike Quartey.
