http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4165901&name=rafael_dan the fight generated $50 million in ppv alone, awesome numbers considering the participants and economy
Floyd's fight with Hatton did 915K according to that same article. That's probably why Arum doesn't want to release the numbers and has been floating aroung bogus figures. No way can he get Pac the bigger purse against Floyd when Pac's PPV and live gate numbers are lower than Floyd's against the same guys.
Reg, if we only had more fans like you who do the research and keep it real. Your only when you post is calling a fighter like Abraham a paper champion
That'll change once they get the PPV figures from the Floyd-JMM fight. No way will that be like the Floyd-hatton or delahoya fights. Pac will get the bigger purse or 50/50.
The obvious argument to counter this is that a 50,000 difference in ppv sales is almost negligible and you could further argue that had the fight taken place in the same economic environment, it probably would have sold MORE than the floyd/hatton fight. And I think it's true, it would have.
negotiations for that fight are gonna be tough and i wouldn't be surprised to see this one go the same way as the Tito vs Oscar rematch or the Jones vs Hopkins rematch.
No, Floyd did more against the same fighters. Pac getting the bigger purse means the fight would never happen. Trust me, don't be surprised if Arum prices Pacquiao out of this.
if that is the case what is Arum hiding? He does not want anyone to know that Pac is not as big of a PPV draw as Mayweather for negotiating purposes plain and simple. Screw that joke Bob Arum.
For some reason i think they are lying... because all the previous claims were higher then pbf vs hatton and now its just 50k higher? like really though? im not saying that its impossible that hatton vs pac outsells the pbf fight... but i just think they wanted to make sure the #'s were higher than pbf vs hatton so if pbf vs pac happened they could make a claim to get more $$
