Lets get this clear, Pacman and Floyd KO ANY version of Hatton.

PBF would have knocked out Ricky Hatton at 140 and with a different referee.

He was after a spectacular KO and at a time when HE decided. In round 8 he hit Hatton with a hard straight right that he was going down but PBF held onto him so he wouldn't.

He prolonged that fight...

 

We all knew it, but some had to make it dramatic. It was a good win for PAc because he brutally ko'd a once defeated fighter. People want to make Pac's win over Hatton as a more impressive win than Floyd's because they have a chance to. I was impressed with both fighters in how they defeated Hatton.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Hatton certainly initiate's the holding but PBF had plenty of time to stand back and let him fall. I stand by my belief that that fight was prolonged by PBF because he was seeking something spectacular.

PBF never seeks something spectacular, he does what he has to to win.

 

But what if he truely meant that fight to be his last?? What if his trouble with the IRS is the sole reason he has come back?

Then surely it's not inconceivable that he would have wanted to try out something, as in the punch that finally kocked down Hatton, that he had always wanted to try?

I think it must have been very obvious to Team Mayweather that Hatton was all hype and had NO chance of losing against him.

 

Whatever. Hatton was an exciting fighter who took what he had to the top of the game for years. Think about that. Mayweather is probably the most gifted boxer since Sugar Ray Leonard. Pac is a ferocious and highly skilled fighter who is clearly at the top of the P4P.

So Hatton couldn't beat two of the best fighters of our era. Big deal. At least he had the guts to try. And he was a champion in another way -- he carried a whole nation of fans with him wherever he went. He was the ordinary guy who achieved amazing things on sheer determination and will.

So what's the point here? Hatton's fans love him. No post on ESB is going to take that away, man.

 

Mayweather Jr laid the blueprint for the man in your avatar's impressive victory. Mayweather figured out and then dismantled Ricky in the ring and Roach and Manny subsequently used this schooling as their game plan.

So credit where credit's due.

As for Pay Per View numbers - Hatton played a big part in the numbers being as high as they were especially in the Manny fight. I doubt large numbers of Manny's fans in less affluent areas actually paid out to watch the fight purely due to their financial restrictions.

Mayweather is ,financially at least, the big draw if a fight against the Pacman ever happens.

 

Floyd beats Hatton any time they meet, Pac likely does too but Im more confident with Floyd.
