You cany have it every way you want! you cant say Pac lost twice to Marquez because you felt he did or because of popular opinion, and yet have Pea with wins regardless of the Official decisions because you felt he did or popular opinion vs DLH Chavez and Ramirez. There is a reason Pea didnt get those decisons vs Ramirez and Chavez he did absolutely nothing but juke move get down in a squat and clown around. The man did absolutely the bare minimum offensively and you expect a decision while the other guy is forcing the fight and landing? Marquez, Barrera and Morales were closer to prime and better fighters than Mcgirt, and Nelson by a lot look at the wins, KO's and record of any of my two vs Nelson and Mcgirt. Its not even close, the subtlie skills, technique pedigree and boxing ability to include class of those fighters are much greater than those of Nelson and Mcgirt. The record speaks for itself Pac beat better fighters and dominated those fighters to a greater Than Sweet Pea in the same situations. The record shows in fights vs Chavez, DLH and a tough but above average Champ like Ramirez that in the big moment for whatever reasons he came up short. A top twenty great top twenty in the History of the sport alltime doesnt get a draw with Chavez or lose to Ramirez or DLH period. Compare that to Mannys moments in the sun in weights 6 times greater than where he started he makes one guy quit another he nearly kills thats after wiping the slates clean of the great Mexicans Barrera, Morales, MarquezThe skill set and supposed defensive mastery of Pea which in essence is the art of not throwing any punches while moving and making the other look bad while offering limited offense is not top 20 material, A Benitez at 140 in his prime kicks Pernells ass and also decisively beats Chavez and that mummy Ramirez! You can throw in DLH while you are at it also.Pac with his talent has accomplished greater things in the world of boxing historically than sweet Pea no amount of conjecture excuses or fantasy can change that. Skill sets are not everything, you have to come up big and dominate in the big ones. A good example of this is how the Baltimore Colts dont have a Super Bowl victory for the 1969 season, why?because Regardless of how good one looks on paper you have to fight the big fight and win or shut the **** up.

Your missing the point...Pac was never REALLY a Flyweight..Manny turned pro at 16 I believe but by 21 he was a jr featherweight.

Your splitting hairs too...There has been fighters that have gone up MORE weight and done well, better then Pac, but because they didnt start at flyweight you think that makes what Pac did more impressive..That is what you call being totally biased. Not to take anything away from pac but lets be honest. In most of the fights were he moved up he was fighting guys that too were moving up. Only the Hatton, Diaz and Oscar fights did he fight a guy that too wasnt moving up.

what im trying to say is it is extremely hard if not impossible for a flyweight to move up past 126. even bantamweights never grow past 126.

yes, pac was not a flyweight, but he was a flyweight champ at such a very young age. and for a fighter to be a flyweight champ move into the 140 division and conquer it, is timeless.

My goodness you are so up into Manny's ass it is almost scary. I mean please, to put Manny and Pernell on the same thread is already unbelievable, you don't have to say so much BS. And don't get me wrong, I love Pacquiao. the man is the best right now but let's face it his record ain't good enough to compare to Pernell's.
And for what it is worth, Whitaker would have embarrassed Manny at lightweight like no one did before.

If he said sweet pea wasn't throwing punches against Chavez he hasn't seen the fight, all pea was doing was throwing and landing clean making an ATG look horrible in the process. And you say Chavez's best weight was 140? It wasn't it was 135 and so was Pea's.

All you've done is compare Pac with a top 20 ATG to make Pac look amazing, you've went onto boxrec and made your mind up without watching a single fight.

I would have read that if it wasn't one big block.

Just kidding. This is an excellent post.

My only comment is that I thought Sweat Pea was quite active in the Chavez fight and actually started battering JCC from fifth round on. In the ninth - Chavez was doing all the catching and no throwing - whilst backing away. It was a shame that one of the finest boxing performances of the twentieth century was marred by such a controversial decision.

Did I say Pac lost twice to Marquez? I thought he beat him once and the second fight was a draw. That's a more favourable opinion for Pac than you'll get out of 90% of people on here.

I also thought Whitaker beat Ramirez and Chavez, but then again, so did everyone that isn't biased. Seems I CAN have it both ways there. The DLH fight could have gone either way. I had it for Pea by a point. Totally reasonable card.

    2 Reasons: Sulaiman & King.

I've heard people say Whitaker did nothing before, but the original hilarity that you provide is to claim then that Chavez and Ramirez were landing.

Nelson would spark Barrera, Morales (should I mention that he was losing to frikken Raheem when Pac beat him or will I just let it stand that Nelson would deck him even if he was prime? Yeah, even if we was prime Nelson would deck him) and Marquez. As for McGirt, I think he is definitely better than the Morales Pac beat and better than Marquez too, though it is debateable.

    Garbage.

Yep, DLH was in a similar situation for Pea and Pac.

Yep, Chavez was about as far gone as Morales, who lost to Raheem before facing Pac.

Yep the second time he fought Barrera, that was a fighter better than Buddy MgGirt.

Yep, Whitaker struggled with Nelson whereas Pac had a field day with Marquez.

    Whatever reason = corruption.

I'm sure most that have him top 20 didn't feel he lost any of those fights. If you are saying that a top 20 fighter isn't subject to corrpution, well, that's pure crap.

Manny lost to a decent Morales, beat Barrera easy both times and struggled twice with Marquez. I wouldn't call that wiping a slate.

Benitez struggled with Emiliano Villa at 140, why should I think he kicks Pernell's ass? I know you've seen that fight . The way he was fading against Cervantes, I wouldnt think he'd be beating Chavez there either.

As for Pea having limited offence. Yeah whatever, the guy threw 80-100 punches per round in his prime. They weren't all power punches but he had more than adequate offence to win fights that were legit and not cooked.

DLH was done. Good performance, but DLH hardly threw a punch all fight.

Skill sets aren't everything, but Whitaker did perform well in the big fights, corruption aside. People don't have him ranked so highly just becuase he was skilled. THey think he beat and in fact dominated Chavez, Nelson and held his own with a prime DLH when he himself was past his prime. He also dominated McGirt in the rematch, a very good fighter - something Pac hasn't been able to do with Marquez.

You need to be careful to qualify this kind of statement for posterity...as san rafael is one of the best posters on here, without a doubt. :good

Can't believe I'm even getting into this, as I generally avoid p4p discussions (being that they're pointless and asinine and my least favorite part of being a part of a community of boxing fans)...

Shouldn't that read: "anyone who has Sweet Pea at #20 should swap him with Manny"? When you say "in the top 20" that could be anything. So you're suggesting that if someone has Whitaker at 16, they should bump him and not whoever they have ranked lower (17-20) to make room for Pac? Are you implying that the other 19 people in everybody's lists are automatically uniform in identity and order? Prithee, for the unenlightened...what names and correct order might that be that everyone should automatically intuitively know? :nut

We'll take your opinions seriously when you've actually seen the fights. Until then, you're just talking ****. If you have actually seen the fights and came to those conclusions, find a different sport.

I have Pernell in my top 20, and I don't have Manny in it. Manny is not quite there yet. He soon will be if he continues to produce the goods, but not just yet, and that's coming from a known *******. And when Manny does enter my top 20, it will not be Sweet Pea who drops out, as he is around 15th or so. Whitaker is and always will be a top 20 lock. I hope Pac soon is too.

It really is brave of you to come out on ESB by having a she-male avatar. Respect to you, I never expected there to be an open homo on a boxing forum. The 21st century is here it seems.
