I've never seen this fight, ended in a split decision to Arguello. Can someone fill me in on how the fight went?

TBH Greg, thats what jogged my memory. I'm usually pretty good from that era of boxing but realized I had no idea how that fight panned out.

Bump, just saw this fight, scored it 96-94 Ramirez, great effort by the 21 year old.

Surprised Arguello didn't give him a re-match when he won the LW title

here , i managed 2 dig it (my post) from d "what fight did u woch tred" :
Jose Luis Ramirez vs Alexis Arguello .
rds 1-5 even with Arguello more of d aggressor and Ramirez having d better of landed punches , rd 6 is a 10-8 4 Ramirez , rd 9 i could excuse 4 Arguello and rd 10 even again , all in all
    This content is protected
, d least he could b given 4 this fight . If anything , he had more case winning a few of d early rds , thus increasing d gap in his favor .

    edit : i posted it there in d 02-27-2012

It was a robbery. 6-4 Ranirez (and then add the knockdown) in a highly competitive and exciting fight.

Ramirez's best showing of all-round offensive output IMO, movement and an array of lucked that had Arguello just a slight step off in most of the rounds. He was always in it, so essentially he was outworked, but Ramirez did it very, very well.
