I haven't heard from Duddy since his loss. I did a search a little while ago and saw nothing since the fight. Has he made a statement?

To the point of the thread. I think a rematch with Lyell is a no win for Duddy. He has been trying to go down to JMW and has so far, not succeeded. His match with Billy was supposed to be at 156, near as I can find out, and JD missed it by a pound. After all the talk about JD moving down to 152, is it possible he really just can't make that weight comfortably? Was that part of his problem?

Lyell walks around a true 154 pounder. He doesn't like to cut weight because he says he just feels stronger if he doesn't. He had to eat extra to get to 155. That means IF JD were to beat BL in a rematch, he would be fighting a smaller guy again. If he loses again? I think JD needs to forget about JMW all together, that means forgeting about a rematch with a smaller guy.

And I was afraid this would turn into a bash Duddy thread. That little interest in him now?

He will get knocked out this time; he's got no heart.

I'll have to assume you didn't see the fight and know little to nothing of Lyell. Not much of a KO threat.

Too say the winner had no heart would have been incredibly stupid, but this is ESB.

Lyell has fought in Youngstown once that I know of in recent years, so I'm not sure what you are implying? Duddy had the home town advantage in that fight. That fight was staged to show case him in a pro Duddy crowd.

But, that is not the point, I think it is a no win situation for Duddy to take the rematch. If he wins, he beats a smaller guy. If he loses, his career takes another huge setback. I think Duddy needs to say, "I tried to get to 154, it didn't work out, I'm sticking to middle weight where I am stronger". I think that is his best shot at quickly rebuilding.

Has he released ANY statments or given any interviews since the fight? I've heard nothing at all from/of him.

Ive heard nothing and tbh dont think his mind is right since all that business with irish ropes and the smichet fight , he had shown signs of improvment maybe he can do something but rumours are he is coming home

I really thought he looked better under Burns. I forgot about the Irish Ropes. I really don't know if that stuff affects a fighter in the ring, but that extra weight drain? 154 sounded good on paper when they announced it...... Like I said, Lyell doesn't believe in it, he says it makes him weak to drain and rehydrate. And that is just from 154 to 147. Those extra pounds could be a killer for John.

Well, Lyell has just become a full time boxer now that he graduated. Thing is, he has some bigger money options right now than vanes. Duddy would bring some good money in Ireland, I just question that it is a good fight for John. Put 154 behind him, it isn't working.

He's got tons of heart. John would take a savage beating before he ever got stopped.

I knew I'd get the haters. A lot less than I guessed though, so that is a positive.

Great. AA takes on a guy that has to eat to make 155 to get sanctioned in the weight class. That means he would be in against a guy that is 15 to 20 pounds lighter than him. And people moan about Pavlik/Mora? :patsch
